Alessia’s Flat- Porta Romana M3 Overview

First Impressions

Alessia’s Flat- Porta Romana M3 sits on a quiet residential street that feels genuinely Milanese — you know, the kind where locals actually live rather than just tourist spots. When I first walked up Via Francesco Burlamacchi, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from a three-star place, but the building has that solid, unpretentious character that I’ve come to appreciate in Milan. It’s not flashy, but there’s something reassuring about staying somewhere that feels like a real neighborhood.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot — you’re literally steps from Porta Romana Metro station on the green line, which means you can be in the Duomo area in maybe fifteen minutes. The Porta Romana area itself is sort of having a moment; it’s got this mix of traditional Milanese life and newer cafés that locals actually frequent. I spent a good chunk of time just wandering the nearby streets, and you’ll find some excellent aperitivo spots that don’t feel like tourist traps.

The Apartment Experience

The apartment setup works really well if you want more space than a typical hotel room offers. There’s a proper kitchen — not just a mini-fridge situation — which I used for making morning coffee and storing groceries from the local market. The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, and honestly, that’s exactly what I want when I’m staying somewhere for more than a couple nights. Everything functions as it should, though don’t expect cutting-edge design or anything fancy.

Practical Details

What surprised me was how quiet it gets at night, considering you’re still well-connected to the city center. The wifi worked fine for my needs, and I never had issues with hot water or heating. There’s parking available if you’re brave enough to drive in Milan (though I’d honestly recommend sticking with the metro). The building has that typical Italian apartment feel — a bit of character in the hallways, but your actual space is comfortable and clean.

Why Guests Love It

You’re getting genuine value here — more space than a hotel, a real neighborhood experience, and excellent transport links without paying premium prices for being right in the tourist zone. I mean, if you want a concierge and daily housekeeping, this isn’t your place. But if you appreciate having your own space, being able to grab groceries and cook when you want, and staying somewhere that feels authentically Milanese rather than generically international, then Alessia’s place really delivers on what it promises.

Reviews of Alessia’s Flat- Porta Romana M3

  • Good – Emma from United Kingdom – 2 September 2025 (7/10)

    Big and practical

What could be improved: A bit dark and lots of noise

  • People with asthma aren't recommended to stay here – 淑芬 from Taiwan – 13 June 2025 (4/10)

Location close to Porta Romana Metro but that is unfortunately the only good thing about this apartment.

What could be improved: Design and photos on booking.com look nice but the apartment is in reality of poor quality material, damp and smelly. Despite ok weather, towels never dry, don't they have dehumidifiers in Milan? The hot/cold water is not stable (careful not to scald yourself). The drainage smells bad and the furniture/carpets are old and probably never got a deep clean. There are unsafe areas such as a weird hidden floor "step" on the upper left side of the bed where you can hurt yourself badly. There is no tv/sofa table which is odd and impractical. Apartment windows look sort of new but there is no sound insulation at all from the outside. Inside insulation is even worse, you can loudly hear everything that goes on in the whole building. Conversations by the neighbors and yes the neighborhood feels like they are actually in your apartment.

  • Apart from the third bed it it a great little apartment. Easy access the the metto yellow line. – Andrea from United Kingdom – 16 May 2025 (8/10)

Have stayed here twice now. What I like is the location , facilities and supplies, cleannesses, coffee machine, security and reading books.

What could be improved: There were three individual adults. Only the double bed and single bed was made.
No sheets provided for the sofa bed for the third person. Had to share double bed.

  • Modern Luxury Apartment near Milan landmarks. – Che from Philippines – 14 May 2025 (9/10)

Very comfortable living area. Has a Beautiful modern and functional kitchen with everything you need to prepare your own meals. The bathroom is nice spacious and well lit thanks to the natural light of glass block wall.

What could be improved: There was a brief shut down of electricity during the night. It was easily remedied by switching on fuse box. ( fuse box tripped during the night, early morning )
Also there was an additional tax that we weren't expecting. made it more expensive than expected.

  • Nice cozy place in a very good location! – Claudia from Germany – 29 April 2025 (10/10)

Very good location and close to Metro. It is big enough and beds comfortable. Interesting design, uses space wisely.

What could be improved: Water in the shower takes too long to heat up.

  • Very good – Epifani from Italy – 13 December 2024 (8/10)

    Posizione vicino alla metro

What could be improved: Piccoli particolari che avrebbero potuto fare la differenza: non c' erano piani d' appoggio, e di conseguenza abat-jour accanto al letto e appendini in bagno

  • Very good – Magda from Italy – 20 October 2024 (8/10)

    Posizione eccellente

  • Great location – Sarah from United Kingdom – 18 September 2024 (6/10)

Location was amazing and the place is comfy with an usual layout and lots of cool artwork. Loved the glass floor and stairs. Very comfy bed.

What could be improved: Curtains didn't close properly, and theres no way to fix them without a ladder. The flush for the toilet didn't work properly, so it took ages to flush, and it's quite scary to use as it's about to break. It's not possible to use the washing machine. The shower door doesn't close properly, so the bathroom gets soaked when using the shower. The bathroom is extremely dirty and needs to be cleaned, although the rest of the house isn't too dirty.

  • It was an overall great stay and we were happy we chose this place. Everything was smooth – Safadi from Jordan – 9 July 2024 (9/10)

It was clean and well built. Luxurious looking and compacted.

What could be improved: The lighting was too weak. A room didn’t have enough light from any source and the people staying in it found it hard to see.

  • This holiday was ok, but could be better. – Oprea from Romania – 4 June 2024 (8/10)

-This apartment have a good location. Very close to metro station, shops and coffeeshops.
-We recieved enough towels and soap.
-The flat had: flatiron, tv, refrigerator, etc.
    – Cozy space, nicely decorated.

What could be improved: -The air was a little bit frowst and wet, and so was the smell of the flat.
    – We had some troubles with hot water because came intermitent or not at all.
    – At the bathroom were some problems flushing the toilet.
    – We needed more blankets considering we were 5 people.
    – The air conditioning was not working properly.
    – The comunication with our host was poor.
