Aparthotel Dei Mercanti Overview
First Impressions
Aparthotel Dei Mercanti sits tucked away on Passaggio degli Osii, one of those narrow medieval passages that makes Milan feel like it’s hiding secrets behind every corner. Walking up to this four-star property, you’ll notice how it blends seamlessly into the historic fabric of the city center — honestly, I almost missed the entrance on my first visit because it’s so elegantly understated.
The Heart of Milan
You know what struck me most? The location is absolutely unbeatable. You’re literally steps from the Duomo — I mean, you can practically hear the cathedral bells from your window. The Scala opera house is a five-minute stroll, and all those high-end shopping streets around Via Montenapoleone are right there. But here’s the thing — despite being in the thick of everything, this little passage stays surprisingly quiet, especially in the evenings when the day-trippers head back to their hotels.
The Apartment Experience
Each apartment here feels more like a Milanese friend’s well-appointed flat than a typical hotel room. The kitchen setups are actually functional — not those token mini-fridges you usually get. I was able to brew proper morning coffee and even put together a simple dinner with ingredients from the nearby Brera market. The spaces have this wonderful mix of contemporary comfort and old-world character, with exposed beams and thoughtful lighting that makes everything feel warm and lived-in.
Local Living
What I really appreciated was how the staff treats you like a temporary local rather than just another tourist. They’ll point you toward the neighborhood restaurant where Milanese actually eat (not the tourist traps), and they know which gelato place closes latest when you’re craving something sweet after dinner. The building itself has this lovely internal courtyard that gives you a break from the bustling streets — perfect for that afternoon espresso when your feet need a rest from all the walking.
Why Guests Love It
The 8.3 rating makes perfect sense once you spend a night or two here. It’s that rare combination of independence and service — you get the freedom of having your own space with a proper kitchenette, but there’s always someone available when you need recommendations or help with logistics. The parking situation is handled well too, which anyone who’s driven in Milan will tell you is no small feat. Sure, it’s not the flashiest place in the city, but there’s something genuinely charming about staying somewhere that feels authentically Milanese rather than generically international.
Best hotels in Milan blend rooftop terraces, contemporary Italian style, and traditional Milanese breakfast spreads.

We enjoyed our stay here. A good sized room decorated in a quirky style that made us smile. Fabulous location – just minutes from the Duomo in the heart of Milan. Plenty to see, places to eat, close to the metro. We were grateful for the opportunity to leave luggage while we explored Milan the following morning.
What could be improved: We'd anticipated a proper reception area on arrival, but the process was handled, perfectly well, by someone in the tiniest office inside the entrance hall. No complaints, just unexpected. The location, staff, ambience of the apartment made it a great choice! – Beverly from United States – 28 October 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Being so central it is noisy all the time but that is to be expected and the windows closed eliminated a lot of the noise. The shower pressure could do with improvement.Great place to stay! – Pam from United States – 8 October 2025 (8/10)

The location was great, the space in the room we had was brilliant, there was road works going on outside but the windows must be triple glazed as we barely heard a thing! Overall a great place to stay, friendly staff and ideal location!
