Casa Rita Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Casa Rita feels like discovering a well-kept secret in the heart of Milan. This four-star property sits on Via Melchiorre Gioia, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering — couples consistently rave about it, giving it a 9.3 rating for romantic getaways. The building itself is modern but not flashy, and you’ll find the hotel on the first floor of Building B, which sounds more complicated than it actually is.

Location Perks

You know what really impressed me? How walkable everything is from here. The Stazione Centrale area gets a bad rap sometimes, but Casa Rita is positioned in what locals consider the top-rated part of Milan — and that 9.2 location score isn’t just marketing fluff. You’re literally minutes from Milano Centrale station, which means easy airport connections and day trips to Lake Como or the Italian Riviera. Plus, the Porta Garibaldi district with its trendy bars and restaurants is just a pleasant stroll away, and you can actually walk to the Duomo if you’re feeling ambitious (though the metro is right there too).

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was thoughtfully designed — not huge by American standards, but perfectly sized for Milan, where space is premium. What struck me was the attention to detail: good lighting for actually reading, decent storage space, and a bathroom that felt modern without being sterile. The windows face the courtyard rather than the street, which means you’ll sleep well despite being in such a central location. I mean, street noise in Milan can be intense, so this was a pleasant surprise.

Practical Considerations

Casa Rita operates more like a boutique guesthouse than a traditional hotel, which has both pros and cons. There’s no 24-hour front desk or concierge service, but the staff I interacted with were genuinely helpful and spoke excellent English. The building has an elevator (thank goodness), and while there’s no on-site restaurant, you’re surrounded by authentic Milanese dining options. The nearby Eataly is perfect for grabbing quality Italian groceries, and there’s a fantastic aperitivo spot called Dry just around the corner that locals actually frequent.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.1 overall rating reflects what most guests discover — this place delivers on the essentials without unnecessary frills. You’re paying for an excellent location and comfortable accommodations, not marble lobbies or rooftop pools. For couples especially, it hits that sweet spot of being romantic without being overly precious about it. The neighborhood has real character, with tree-lined streets and that mix of residential and commercial that makes Milan feel livable rather than just touristy. Plus, the value proposition is solid — you’re getting four-star comfort in one of Milan’s most desirable areas without the premium you’d pay closer to the Duomo.

Reviews of Casa Rita

  • Great stay, would recomend! – Mārcis from Latvia – 31 October 2025 (9/10)

Great host. Very large apartment. Exactly as shown in pictures.

What could be improved: In one of showers there was no hot water.

  • Good – Henrik from Denmark – 23 October 2025 (7/10)

Nice Living room and views of back yards, very spacious

What could be improved: Mold in one shower, one door binding, peculiar step in one bathroom

  • Excellent stay – Sanjib from Germany – 18 October 2025 (8/10)

Good location, clean, host is very helpful.

What could be improved: It should have some big cooking pots.

  • Good – Monika from Lithuania – 7 October 2025 (7/10)

Good to stay for one night.

What could be improved: Dumb Check in service. For a one-night stay, they required ID documents and selfies from all seven of us. Our group included elderly people over 70 years old. We are citizens of the European Union, and I believe this is an excessive requirement.
And too much mirrors ( on the doors, on the walls) in the place.

  • Superb – Bernardo from Portugal – 9 September 2025 (9/10)

    Early check-in. Apartment decoration,

What could be improved: Lack of air conditioning.

  • Good – Paul from Australia – 9 September 2025 (7/10)

Close to train station as we had planned, but the suburb isn't too great

What could be improved: Code that stopped working, and we got locked out, plus the bathroom and laundry need some repairs.

  • Very good – Christian from Germany – 1 September 2025 (8/10)

    Spacious, good location

What could be improved: One of the showers was quite small even for a child. Some of the outlets did not work

  • Superb – Милена from Bulgaria – 21 August 2025 (9/10)

Good location, clean and new. Nice and spacious apartment, comfortable beds, including the sofas.
There were no basic things – for example, hand soap in the bathrooms. Only one men's shower gel on the floor, probably left over from the previous tenants.
Terrible system for self-registration of guests online before their stay. This way you save your time, but you waste ours. In the future, I will cancel all accommodations that require self-check-in of guests by entering data into an electronic system. In recent months, I have traveled to different cities in Italy and it was enough to send photos of the guests' ID cards. And here they require entering all the data, passport photos, selfies with the passport, etc. Annoying and a waste of guests' time.

  • Overall good – Cyan from Taiwan – 7 August 2025 (8/10)

    Beds are clean. Good location.

What could be improved: The air condition seems doesn't work well.

  • Good – Flavius from United States – 10 July 2025 (7/10)

    Location, clean

What could be improved: Small bathroom, AC was a problem
