First Impressions

Walking into Golden View Milan, you immediately notice how they’ve managed to squeeze genuine elegance into what’s actually a pretty compact space on Via Broletto. The lobby has this warm, contemporary feel — not trying too hard to be flashy, but definitely polished in that understated Italian way. You know what struck me most? The staff actually remembers your name after the first day, which honestly doesn’t happen that often in Milan’s busier hotels.

Perfect Central Location

Here’s the thing about the location — you’re literally a three-minute walk from La Scala, and I mean actually three minutes, not tourist-brochure three minutes. The Duomo is right there too, but more importantly for daily life, there’s a fantastic little café around the corner where locals grab their morning espresso. The Brera district starts just a few blocks away, which means you can wander into some of Milan’s best galleries and boutiques without dealing with metros or taxis.

The Room Experience

My room was on the fourth floor — compact but intelligently designed, which is what you’d expect from a four-star property in this part of the city. The bathroom was surprisingly spacious, and the shower pressure was excellent (trust me, this matters after long days of walking Milan’s cobblestones). The air conditioning worked perfectly, which isn’t always a given in these historic buildings. What I really appreciated was the soundproofing — Via Broletto can get busy, but you barely notice it once you’re inside.

Dining and Daily Comforts

The breakfast setup is more continental than elaborate, but it’s done well — good coffee, fresh pastries, and they actually have decent scrambled eggs if you need something more substantial. There’s a small restaurant attached that serves solid Italian classics, though honestly, with Milan’s incredible food scene right outside your door, you’ll probably want to explore. The 24-hour front desk has been genuinely helpful with reservations and directions, not just politely useless.

  Location great. Plenty of room in flat. Some air-conditioning.
  
  What could be improved: Instructions for getting keys very late – we were standing outside appt for over half an hour. Emails requesting passport details and local taxes came very late – we were already travelling. No advance warning that taxes needed separate payments method (Revolut – which we didn’t have). Bathroom very basic and a bit tired. no shower curtain so floor was wet after first shower. No air conditioning in bedroom.

  This apartment was lovely and the location is great. It was clean and comfortable. We enjoyed the aircon, the tv and the little fully functional bathroom and kitchen. It was great to have a fridge. We were a family of 4 and my 2 children slept comfortably on the sofa bed. We all slept well. Very quiet. And the lovely host kindly allowed us to finish our morning tour before checking out. Communication and entry instructions were easy.
  
  What could be improved: The stairs were a very hard climb in the heat. This apartment is right at the top of 5+ floors with no lift so lugging large suitcases was very hard. Having said that, we found it good value for money so it’s worth the climb.

  Great location, cute apartment, very good host! Loved opening the window and drinking my coffe there.

  What could be improved: The only thing we were missing was a plug for the tub. Would have been nice to use it after a long day of walking.
