Hotel Raffaello Overview
First Impressions
When I first walked up to Hotel Raffaello, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the somewhat industrial surroundings along Viale Certosa. But you know what? Sometimes the best surprises come wrapped in unassuming packages. This four-star property sits in the Certosa district, and while it might not have the postcard appeal of central Milan, there’s something refreshingly authentic about staying where actual Milanese live and work.
The Neighborhood Reality
Look, I’m not going to sugarcoat it — Certosa isn’t exactly the Duomo area. But here’s the thing: you’re about 15 minutes from the city center by metro, and the neighborhood has this genuine, lived-in feel that tourist zones simply can’t match. There’s a fantastic little trattoria just two blocks away that I stumbled upon, and the local market on Via Mac Mahon is where you’ll actually see how Milanese people shop for their daily groceries.
The Room Experience
My room was larger than I expected — Milan hotel rooms can be notoriously cramped, but Raffaello gives you space to actually unpack and spread out. The decor is sort of contemporary Italian without being flashy, and the bathroom had one of those rainfall showers that actually works properly (trust me, this isn’t always a given). The air conditioning was a lifesaver during my July visit, and the blackout curtains meant I could sleep in despite the morning traffic outside.
Practical Matters
The staff here genuinely knows their stuff about getting around Milan. When I mentioned wanting to visit the Navigli district for dinner, the front desk guy didn’t just point me toward a taxi — he walked me through the metro connections and even mentioned which car to board for easier transfers. The hotel’s restaurant serves decent Italian classics, though honestly, you’ll want to explore the neighborhood eateries. There’s secure parking if you’re driving, which is actually pretty valuable in this part of the city.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s what I think makes Hotel Raffaello work: it’s unpretentious and reliable without trying to be something it’s not. The 8.4 rating makes perfect sense — it’s the kind of place where everything functions smoothly, the beds are comfortable, and you wake up feeling like you’ve had a proper night’s rest. If you’re the type of traveler who wants to experience Milan beyond the tourist bubble while still having a solid base to return to, this place hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Reviews of Hotel Raffaello
Good city location to take public transport to city center and drive easy to Malpensa airport – Kristina from United States – 31 October 2025 (9/10)
Front desk was amazing. I made a mistake with days and had a non refundable option. They were able to switch days for me, but I was lucky since it filled up after that. We arrived at 12 and they checked and the room was available. Bed was large and comfortable. Bathroom spacious with towel warmers etc. breakfast was great. Very easy to take Tram to Duoma . It is right in front of the hotel. And driving to airport was so easy from this location
What could be improved: Room was a little warm but you could open windows. Walls are a little thin. But it was fine at nightSuperb – Pbi21 from United States – 27 October 2025 (9/10)
For what I needed, just a place for an overnight stay it was great
Good – Lauren from United States – 23 October 2025 (7/10)
The rooms were great. The breakfast and staff were great. We had to order a taxi really early in the morning and the front desk literally had a taxi button where they would be able to get one to the hotel in 2-3 minutes at 4am.
What could be improved: Filtered plain water was not available outside of breakfast hours. It would have been nice if the machines that don't require active staff would be low-key available throughout the day.Superb – Kerem from Turkey – 17 October 2025 (9/10)
Clean rooms
Parking (although limited and needs reservation)
What could be improved: Nothing particularGood on the whole. – Emyr from United Kingdom – 1 October 2025 (8/10)
Staff were very welcoming and everywhere was clean. Good, quite spacious bedroom. Convenient No.14 tram stop opposite the front entrance
What could be improved: Breakfast was a little disappointing – mainly due to an absence of fresh fruit in my view. The service was a little under par at the evening restaurant. The hotel is rather far from other local amenities.Very good – Paschoal from Brazil – 8 September 2025 (8/10)
Great staff, spacious bathroom, great bed and good Air conditioning
