Hotel Vecchia Milano Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Vecchia Milano sits on a quiet side street just steps from the Duomo, and honestly, that’s exactly where you want to be in Milan. The building itself has that classic Milanese charm — you know, the kind where you feel like you’re staying somewhere with real history rather than a cookie-cutter chain. It’s a three-star property, which means you’re getting solid comfort without the frills, and sometimes that’s precisely what works best in a city where you’ll barely be in your room anyway.
Location & Getting Around
Via Borromei is one of those streets locals actually use, which I love — you’re not stuck in some tourist bubble. The Duomo is literally a three-minute walk, and you can reach La Scala in about the same time. What’s really handy is that you’re close enough to the fashion district that you can easily walk to the Quadrilatero della Moda, but far enough away that the street stays relatively peaceful at night. The Cordusio metro stop is right there too, so getting to other parts of Milan (or catching the Malpensa Express) is straightforward.
The Rooms
The rooms are what you’d expect from a well-maintained three-star in the city center — compact but thoughtfully laid out. Mine had a small desk that actually worked for getting things done, and the bathroom was recently updated with modern fixtures. The air conditioning works well, which matters more than you might think during Milan’s sticky summers. Sure, the spaces aren’t huge, but everything you need is there, and the beds are genuinely comfortable.
Breakfast & Amenities
Breakfast happens in a cozy ground-floor space that feels more like a neighborhood café than a hotel dining room. They do a proper Italian spread — good espresso, fresh pastries, and usually some local specialties that change seasonally. There’s no fancy spa or fitness center, but honestly, you’re in Milan’s center where you’ll be walking everywhere anyway. The staff speaks excellent English and genuinely seems to enjoy helping guests figure out the city.
Why Guests Love It
What makes Hotel Vecchia Milano work is that it gets the basics right without trying to be something it isn’t. You’re paying for location and comfort, not marble lobbies or rooftop bars — and that trade-off makes perfect sense here. The value is solid for what you get, especially considering how much you’d pay for similar proximity to the Duomo at larger hotels. It’s the kind of place where you sleep well, start your day properly, then head out to experience everything Milan has to offer. For travelers who prioritize being in the heart of things over having extensive hotel amenities, it hits that sweet spot perfectly.

Location and helpful staff. Good breakfast.
What could be improved: One of our 3 rooms was extremely noisy. Bathroom in another had strong smell of mould. It’s a very good value for money! – Olena from Austria – 17 August 2025 (8/10)
The location is perfect: it will take you 10-15 minutes walk to almost all tourist attractions. The staff was nice, welcoming and helpful. My room was cleaned every day, the towels were new and fresh, though I had stayed only for 3 nights. I had an air conditioner in the single room, which was very helpful. The breakfast was very nice, the smell of fresh hot croissants was amazing!!!And free wifi was very fast.
What could be improved: The water was hot in the evening, so it was a bit challenging to take a shower. Maybe because it was very hot outside, or because all guests decided to take shower during the evening hours)))Sometimes the shower was clogged, but the water went away very quickly.Very good – Vilma from Lithuania – 5 August 2025 (8/10)
It had everything thats necessary, was clean, staff was nice.

What could be improved: Very tight shower- lucky we are small!Hotel Vecchio has good basics – Adee8ch from United States – 15 May 2025 (8/10)
The beds were comfortable and clean. Our room faced the back, so it was quiet. We had two twin beds which had more room than our family in one bed rooms.
What could be improved: The bathroom was small, and the room furnishings were very dated, but functional.Good – Marcia from United States – 6 May 2025 (8/10)
