La Residenza Isabella caught me off guard in the best way possible. You check in at a different address (Via della Commenda 25), which initially feels a bit confusing, but it’s actually part of what makes this place special — it’s tucked away from the tourist crowds yet perfectly positioned in Milan‘s city center. The moment you walk into this four-star boutique property, you realize you’ve stumbled onto something that feels more like a well-kept secret than a typical hotel.

Location & Getting Around

Honestly, the location on Via Lamarmora is pretty brilliant. You’re about a ten-minute walk from the Duomo, but the street itself is residential and quiet — none of that constant buzz of tour groups that you get closer to the main attractions. The Porta Romana metro station is just a few blocks away, which makes getting to places like Navigli or Brera really straightforward. I mean, you could easily walk to most places you’d want to see, but having that metro connection gives you options.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had this interesting mix of classic Milanese elegance and modern comfort that actually works. The ceilings are high, the windows are proper full-length ones that let in tons of light, and there’s this attention to detail in the furnishings that you don’t always see at this price point. What I really appreciated was the quiet — even with the windows open, the residential street keeps things peaceful, which is pretty rare for central Milan.

Daily Rhythms & Amenities

Breakfast happens in a small, intimate space that feels more like someone’s dining restaurant than a hotel buffet. It’s not huge, but everything they serve is quality — proper Italian coffee, fresh pastries, and they’ll make you eggs if you ask. The staff genuinely seems to care about getting the details right, from remembering how you like your coffee to suggesting which direction to walk for the best shopping. There’s no spa or fitness center, but honestly, you’re in Milan — the city is your gym and your entertainment.

  The property is clean and comfortable. It is an ideal base to see all of the Milan attractions from especially the Duomo and the QC spa. Close to both the metro station and tram stations if you want to go further to see the Last Supper or the San Siro stadium. It is nice and quiet at night. We had an issue with the WiFi and the host sorted it out straight away. There is a range of foods and drinks provided by the host which is topped up daily. Amazing value for money.
  
  What could be improved: The automatic lighting to the main entrance to the apartment block didn’t appear to be working. This made it a little dark. However, this is not controlled by the host of the Isabella apartments. We found finding the check in location a little challenging but once we found it, check in was great with the host then taking us to the apartment and giving us a tour of its facilities.
