LUVI – San Mansueto Overview

First Impressions

Tucked away on a quiet side street near Porta Garibaldi, LUVI – San Mansueto feels like Milan’s best-kept secret. This three-star property sits in one of those residential pockets where you actually hear birds chirping instead of constant traffic — honestly, I didn’t expect that level of tranquility this close to the business district. The building itself has that understated Milanese elegance, nothing flashy, just clean lines and a welcoming entrance that makes you feel like you’ve found something special.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this spot in Milan — you’re genuinely in a neighborhood, not a tourist bubble. Via Privata San Mansueto is this lovely tree-lined street where locals walk their dogs and grab morning coffee at the corner bar. The Porta Garibaldi train station is maybe a ten-minute walk, which means you can zip to the Duomo in fifteen minutes or catch those high-speed trains to other cities without dealing with metro transfers. Plus, the whole Isola district is right there with its hip restaurants and that cool vertical forest tower everyone talks about.

The Room Experience

My room was compact but thoughtfully designed — you know how Italian hotels sometimes feel cramped? Not here. The bed was surprisingly comfortable (I’m picky about mattresses), and there’s actually decent storage space for your clothes. The bathroom is modern and spotless, with one of those rainfall showerheads that makes you want to linger a bit longer. What really struck me was the attention to detail — good lighting for reading, proper outlets near the bed, and blackout curtains that actually work.

Breakfast & Hospitality

The breakfast setup is simple but hits all the right notes. Fresh pastries, decent coffee (this is Milan, after all), and they usually have some local specialties that change based on what’s seasonal. The staff genuinely seems to care about your stay — they’ll give you neighborhood recommendations that aren’t just the obvious tourist spots. I mean, where else would I have learned about that amazing aperitivo place around the corner that serves the best negroni in the area?

Why Guests Love It

Look, LUVI – San Mansueto isn’t trying to be flashy or compete with those big chain hotels downtown. What it does well is give you an authentic Milan experience without breaking the bank. You get reliable comfort, a genuinely helpful team, and a location that lets you live like a local while still being connected to everything that matters. It’s the kind of place where you might extend your stay just because you’ve found your rhythm in the neighborhood — and honestly, that’s worth more than fancy amenities you’ll never use.

Reviews of LUVI – San Mansueto

  • Dach über dem Kopf für ok Geld. – Peter from Germany – 10 November 2025 (8/10)

    Lage war gut.

What could be improved: Wie Beschreibung, daher passt. Ist aber schon sehr schlicht, aber sauber und Bett bequem.

  • Average property in a good location – Mayank from India – 10 October 2025 (7/10)

    The location was good

What could be improved: Lift was out of service during our stay and the flat was on the 4th floor. It was a tiny room.

  • Very good – Magdalena from Poland – 7 June 2025 (8/10)

Lokalizacja super, świetny kontakt z gospodarzem, blisko do sklepów, restauracji i przystanku tramwajowego.

What could be improved: Słabo działająca klimatyzacja, prysznic potrzebuje odświeżenia.

  • Lovely – Ha from Romania – 14 April 2025 (9/10)

Firstly, I would like to express my gratitude to the hospitality of the host and the neighbours. Everybody was nice, kind and respectful. In my case, I have a background as an Asian living in the East Europe zone, this apartment reached all the expectations I had in mind.

    LOCATION AND FACILITIES
    1. The building was clean, new, a bit of communist vibe with wooden details and little green lovely orchard at the ground floor. Very secured with two layers of locked entrances, two lifts equipped with a spacious stairs.
    2. Room was super clean and smelling good, everything was equipped, even had a steamer for clothes. (influencers might love this fact).
    3. The window had the antique wooden blind likes what I have in Romania, so at night if you need some air in but still have total darkness for a good night sleep, I recommend you to try it. 10/10.
    3. The room might seem smaller in real life but very airy and bright, window heads East, outside view was a green opened space. If you have wet clothes, it will dry in no time.
    4. Hot water flowed instantly for both sinks, shower and bidet (love this culture). The faucet at the kitchen sink was a bit annoyed with water splashing everywhere so be mindful a bit when you need to wash the dishes.
    5. There was little pubs, restaurants, pharmacy, and a small supermarket right around the corner. The neighbourhood was very silent and peaceful.
    6. Transportation was convenient, to the closet tram was 2 mins walk, and to metrou was around 10 mins. From there you could go to the train station and continued on with the bus to the airports, both to Malpensa or Bergamo, super easy. They had also a tram directly to Duomo.

    COMMUNICATION
    7. If you have any requests, don't hesitate to talk with the host on Whastapp, they replied to me almost instantly and were very supportive, I asked for an extra blanket before arrival, how to open the lock, what was the wifi, blah blah, I was a nuisance but they were very patient with me. Thank you.

What could be improved: Please fix the faucet in the kitchen's sink, and maybe equip a little fruit knife (just saying).
A little broom so I could make a fast sweeping all over the room before leaving, my hair was everywhere when I left.
Please prepare some dining tissue before hand, maybe.
The apartment was more like a little dorm for two to have the most comfortable level needed. If you are three, imo I don't think it's a good idea.

For some who might not get used to using the toilet, it's a twist and turn system. You flush the toilet, 225 degrees angle for heavy business, and 180 degrees for light duty. DO-NOT throw the toilet paper in the toilet. It's biodegradable doesn't mean you should, please throw it in the trash can. Ah, and close the lid when you flush the toilet to avoid water splashing. I suggest the host should put a sign to remind the tenants for this matter.

  • Great place to stay for a weekend trip to Milan – Norris from United Kingdom – 11 February 2025 (8/10)

Excellent location – 25 minute walk into the city centre and other good locations nearby too. Nice apartment room

  • Bad – Νικηφορος from Greece – 19 November 2023 (1/10)

What could be improved: very bad experience! When we got there, the owner had not sent us details, how to enter the house, where to find the keys, and we were looking for him on the phones. When we faced a problem, he didn't even answer our messages. The house was dirty, we went inside and there were hairs on the floor from the previous ones, of course, the walls were dirty and the inside of the fridge as well. In general, I would not recommend it to anyone.

  • Comfy stay in perfect neighborhood with easy walk to Bocconi. – Stefano from Thailand – 11 November 2023 (9/10)

    Location

What could be improved: The padlock with the property's keys was a bit difficult to open (not enough indications)

  • Very good – Ekaterina from Belarus – 16 October 2023 (8/10)

We liked this flat. Everything was clean and the communication with the host was easy. There is a little kitchen zone and an electric kettle, which was really helpful. Although not everything is brand new and in the best condition, it was perfectly fine for 3 nights and the price was also ok for this location in a walkable distance from the city center.

  • Superb – Wysocka from Poland – 7 September 2023 (9/10)

Wygodne lozko, dobra lokalizacja, blisko duzo sklepów i stacja metra. Dobrze wyposażony pokój z żelazkiem, czajnikiem sztućcami.
    Dostępne ręczniki

  • Excelente estadía – Paula from Argentina – 24 May 2023 (8/10)

muy buena ubicación y fácil llegar. Tenía todo lo que esperábamos

What could be improved: no es que no nos haya gustado pero justo las noches que estuvimos hizo un poco más de temperatura, y al no tener mucha corriente de aire hizo un poco de calor
