Nina’s House feels more like staying at a stylish friend’s place than checking into a hotel — and I mean that in the best possible way. This four-star gem sits on a quiet residential street in northern Milan, far enough from the tourist chaos but close enough that you’re not stranded. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance you don’t really notice until you’re inside, where everything just feels… right.

Location & Getting Around

Via Pellegrino Rossi isn’t one of those streets you’d stumble across by accident, which honestly works in your favor. You’re in a proper Milanese neighborhood where locals actually live, not just another strip of souvenir shops. The closest metro stop is Dergano on the yellow line — about a seven-minute walk that takes you through tree-lined streets with actual cafes where people read newspapers instead of taking selfies. From there, it’s maybe fifteen minutes to reach the Duomo area, though I found myself lingering in this part of town more than I expected.

The Space

The room I stayed in felt like someone’s well-designed apartment rather than a hotel room — there’s a kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just for show), and the layout makes sense in a way that chain hotels somehow never manage. Nina clearly knows what travelers need: decent wifi, enough outlets, and a shower with proper water pressure. The decor walks that fine line between personal and neutral, with local touches that don’t feel forced or overly themed.

Why It Works

What strikes me most is how Nina runs this place — she’s around but not hovering, helpful without being intrusive. There’s no formal restaurant, but she’ll point you toward the bakery two streets over that locals actually use, or the trattoria that doesn’t have an English menu but serves pasta that’ll ruin you for airport food forever. The whole experience feels authentic in a way that’s getting harder to find, especially in a city like Milan where tourism can overwhelm the local character.

Why Guests Love It

The 8.9 rating makes perfect sense once you’ve been there. It’s not trying to be everything to everyone — there’s no gym, no concierge in a suit, no turndown service. Instead, you get something more valuable: the feeling that you’ve found a real corner of Milan, complete with parking that doesn’t cost more than your flight and neighbors who nod hello in the morning. If you want to experience Milan like someone who actually lives there, rather than just passing through, this is your spot.

  Excellent apartment with a great location, only 5 minutes from the Dergano metro station. The center is a 15-minute drive away. Within walking distance of the Esselunga supermarket. The apartment is very spacious, clean and bright. The beds are comfortable with fine bed linen. The kitchen has modern appliances with a lot of dishes. Each room has air conditioning. No shortcomings were found. If necessary, we will consider this option in the future. Appreciate that the host was also flexible with check in and check out time of arrival.

  The apartment was very large, easy to find and fully equipped. The host was very helpful.
  
  What could be improved: The cleaning could be done much better, the towels smells horribly bad, the sheets were not ironed and the shower floor was dirty – the drain was getting stuck. If only the cleaning is done better this is a super stay and good value for the money.

  The host was very helpful in making our stay as comfortable as possible. The flat was lovely, and the little touches made by the host made it even more desirable. Also, it was very close to the underground station and bus stations. I look forward to booking this place again. 😊

  What could be improved: The propert wasn't very clean there was dist everywhere and the bed spreads stinked. It had very poor lighting.
  The staff wasn't very helpful we ran out of towels and when we requested new ones the staff didn't even bother replying.

  Nice balcony for drying clothes, big modern TV, good internet, responsive and helpful host, clean place, and the remote check-in via link was hassle free.
  
  What could be improved: Would have liked to have laundry detergent. The ac unit leaked water, but the host said he'll be fixing it, so hopefully it won't be an issue anymore.
