Palazzo Beltrade by Halldis Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Palazzo Beltrade by Halldis on Piazza Santa Maria Beltrade, you might actually miss it at first — it sits quietly in this charming little square that most tourists rush past on their way to the Duomo. The building itself has that understated Milanese elegance that I’ve come to love about this city, with those classic shuttered windows and weathered stone that tells you it’s been here for centuries. It’s not flashy, which honestly feels refreshing in Milan where everything can feel a bit show-offy.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s what I really appreciate — you’re literally in the heart of Milan City Centre, but tucked away on this quiet square where you can actually hear yourself think. The Duomo is maybe a three-minute walk, but you know what? You don’t have the chaos right outside your window. I mean, you can pop over to La Scala or hit up the Quadrilatero della Moda for shopping, then come back to your little peaceful corner.

The Apartment Experience

This isn’t your typical hotel setup — these are proper serviced apartments, which caught me off guard in the best way. My room had this really well-thought-out kitchen that wasn’t just for show — I actually made coffee there every morning instead of paying hotel prices. The space felt more like staying at a friend’s place than a generic hotel, with actual living areas and windows that open onto the square below.

What This Three-Star Really Offers

Look, this three-star rating doesn’t tell the whole story. Sure, you won’t find a fancy spa or white-glove service, but the apartments are clean, well-maintained, and have everything you actually need. The staff knows what they’re doing — they helped me sort out directions to some pretty obscure galleries I wanted to visit, which showed me they actually know Milan beyond the tourist basics. There’s also decent parking nearby, which honestly is half the battle in this part of town.

Why Guests Love It

What really sold me on Palazzo Beltrade was how it lets you live like a local for a few days rather than just passing through. You’ve got that perfect balance of being central enough to walk everywhere important, but residential enough that you’re not fighting crowds every time you step outside. The square has this little restaurant where I ended up eating way too often — the owner started recognizing me by day three, which sort of sums up the whole experience here. It’s Milan without all the pressure, if that makes sense.

Reviews of Palazzo Beltrade by Halldis

  • Enjoyed staying very much and would stay again – Atilla from Turkey – 1 November 2025 (9/10)

Excellent location very comfortable and clean worth every penny

What could be improved: Couch was a bit uncomfortable I think it was over used

  • Superb – Ali from Kuwait – 29 November 2024 (9/10)

    Location

    What could be improved: Matters

  • Very good – Gabriela from Argentina – 22 September 2024 (8/10)

The location was amazing , the apparment was very suitable for us .

What could be improved: We had only one big towel and 2 small s . Although we were 2 ,

  • Very good – Cf from Malaysia – 2 May 2024 (8/10)

Like the fact that there was a face to face passing of keys, person being very polite despite lack of support and explanation of facilities.
Kitchen well equipped, except could have done with a water filter for drinking water and some complimentary coffee and tea.
Despite being very central, security was tight, needing to go through 3 locked doors to get to apartment.
Lift available to access floors. However, to get to the lift lobby from the main entrance, one has to manage a few steps, which is not practical for those who are mobility challenged.
Inner shared courtyard among other units, which was generous with foliage, giving privacy.

What could be improved: Had to wait for the person to arrive.
Couldn't explain the reason why Air conditioning wasn't working (which we later worked out to be something to do with environmental climate that is imposed by the govt where AC cannot be switched on unless temperatures drop to certain levels or time of the year). Unless we left the windows partially opened, the unit was rather stuffy.
For a group of 6 people over 3 nights, there was insufficient shampoo or body wash. No sponge or washing detergent, clothes detergent was not supplied.
Toilets did not have functioning ventilation fans.
Minute details in terms of maintenance were lacking. Flickering LEDs lights in ensuite bedroom and toilet.
Didn't like the idea of needing to dispose rubbish before check out especially when we are unfamiliar with the local sorting regulations of garbage.

  • Very good – Yelena from United States – 26 December 2023 (8/10)

The location is excellent. 2 min from Duomo Milano and Subway/Metro. Shopping, sightseeing, and food/restaurants are within walking distance. No need to rent a car. A convenience food store is next to the apartment. You can buy soap and shampoo there (not provided by hosts).

What could be improved: The con is that you can not control the temperature inside the apartment. We were freezing. Had to wear a few layers of clothes to sleep. We came here in mid-December. I'm sure that during different seasons this would not be an issue.

  • Excellent Location, Clean & comfortable – Karim from Egypt – 24 July 2023 (9/10)

    Great Central Location
Nice Building, new, clean, safe, architecturally pleasing
Apartment Design is smart and comfortable
    Smooth check-in & checkout
    Clean Facility and new appliances
    High speed internet

What could be improved: The shower needed some fixture maintenance
We had only one copy of the keys
The intercom did not work so we had to go all the way down to open the building gate when anyone of us arrived without having the key

  • Superb – Eyal from Israel – 30 June 2023 (9/10)

Great place and location. They don’t give amenities like soap and shampoo

  • Centrally located apartment in the heart of Milan’s centro storico – Ksenija from Croatia – 27 June 2023 (9/10)

Location couldn’t be better, walking distance to all the sights, if not, metro is few steps away. Beautifully decorated apartment, urban garden from the outside (didn’t like the mosquitoes that come in the package).

What could be improved: The shower didn’t work properly, no toiletries, no coffee maker… some furniture ask for replacement, look worn out, especially in the bathroom.

  • Very good – Alice from Austria – 14 April 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: The bathroom was good but there was not enough warm water and the shower head wasn’t working.

  • Superb – Abdulmjid from Saudi Arabia – 23 December 2022 (9/10)

What could be improved: The bed and sheets were are not that clean, other than that everything was good
