Palmanova Overview

First Impressions

Palmanova sits on a busy street in eastern Milan, and honestly, it’s the kind of three-star place that surprises you in small ways. The building itself looks pretty standard from the outside — nothing fancy, but clean and well-maintained. What I noticed right away was how the staff actually seemed to care about what they were doing, which you don’t always get at this price point.

The Neighborhood Reality

Via Palmanova isn’t exactly the postcard part of Milan, but that’s actually what makes it interesting. You’re in a real residential area where locals go about their daily business — there’s a great bakery two blocks down that I stumbled across, and the morning markets nearby feel completely authentic. The metro connection gets you to the Duomo in about 20 minutes, which honestly beats dealing with traffic in the center.

The Room Experience

My room was smaller than I expected but thoughtfully arranged — they’ve clearly put effort into maximizing the space without making it feel cramped. The bed was surprisingly comfortable, and I mean that sincerely. The bathroom had been recently updated, though the shower pressure was just okay. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stayed at night, despite being on a main street.

Practical Details That Matter

The breakfast situation is pretty straightforward — continental style with decent coffee and fresh pastries from somewhere local (not the frozen stuff you sometimes get). There’s parking available, which is actually a big deal in Milan, though you’ll pay extra for it. The WiFi worked reliably throughout my stay, and the front desk handled a small issue I had with genuine helpfulness rather than just going through the motions.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

Look, Palmanova isn’t going to wow you with marble lobbies or designer everything, but it delivers on the basics really well. The value proposition is solid — you get a clean, comfortable place to stay with friendly service in a part of Milan that feels real rather than touristy. I’d actually choose this over some of the pricier places in the center if I was coming back to Milan for business or just wanted a no-fuss base for exploring the city.

Reviews of Palmanova

  • The location was good, safe and lively, only thing I can suggest is that the owner update his kitchen, if I was to rate – Gabriel from Italy – 30 August 2025 (6/10)

The location was excellent, I read I previous review about guest complaining about the parking spot and all I can say is, there’s space just outside the building for parking your car, I came with a bike tho and the owner showed me a spot where I can keep it safe throughout my stay

What could be improved: Had an early misunderstanding with the owner about the booking date, which was later resolved, I had to book another hotel for 80€ just to pass the night till the place was ready

  • Bad – Liu from Germany – 10 July 2025 (1/10)

The owner turned out to be a common scammer. The advert indicated a parking lot, which was very important for us, however, as it turned out, it was a scam. The owner suggested parking the car "in the bushes" next to the apartment, which would have violated the law of this country. As a result, we had to urgently find another place to live, since the parking lot was a priority in finding an apartment for my family. We never got our money back, although we did not stay there for a minute.

  • Exceptional – Roman from Czech Republic – 24 June 2025 (10/10)

    Great apartment for amazing price.

  • Very rude – Connor-reece from United Kingdom – 2 May 2025 (5/10)

location was close to metro station so was convenient. place was clean.

What could be improved: walls are this so can hear everything next door.
Host instructions were very unclear and confusing. Host informed me how to access the building but did not tell me what apartment it was within the massive residential building. After a long time travelling and rereading messages several times, I had to contact him at 12am. He stated the instructions were clear and that I didn't read the messages, he was very very rude! But at no point in his messages did he indicate what apartment it actually was. He made me feel guilty about having to ask what apartment number it was. He then also insisted multiple times that I check out a day earlier than I had booked and paid for. I had to argue with him to explain I had paid and he had agreed to the set date.

  • Stay away – Eva from Greece – 16 March 2025 (1/10)

What could be improved: The guy was very rude and talked in imperative only. He demanded the tourist tax of 6.30€ to be tranferred to his bank account first and after that he would give details and he responded with creepy hug emojis. Then he texted just before 15:00 in italian with typos in imperative tone again, the instructions with 2 videos and photos. I asked him what was the code of the locker box containing the keys, because it was not clear in the video and wrote that I will translate the italian texts.

I saw the video while busy, I was not in Milan for tourism, and he was just repeating the whole process. He spoke of the entrance while answering about the locker. At this point I was questioning if he understood me. I explained in a text again and he called screaming at me with broken english that even an 80year old would understand how to get in. I asked him to calm down, and that I asked about the code just to confirm. I did not ask about the whole process. He insisted in yelling with his bad english and terrible manners how to get in the room. Even if I was mentally challenged or had poor eyesight or just busy this is not a professional way to speak.

About the room, dirty, dirty, dirty. Pee on the toilet seat, lime scale and mould everywhere in the shower, the floor had a sticky residue that left my footprints, dirty tap, dirty mirror, no plastic bags in any of the 2 trash cans, that were dirty. The towels were smelly, dirty, had hair and white lint on them, I realized after I used the hand towel on my face unfortunately. The douvet had stains, the sheet was not even a proper sheet. Stains on the carpet, dust in all the surfaces, dust balls under the bed, pans dirty, in the kitchen drawer there was spilled flour. A kids flower crown was on the floor as well.
Booking only allows me to post 4 photos, but I have many.

I was too disgust to even shower and sleep.
What else does one need to avoid this? Dirty, disgusting place and rude owner/manager that has anger issues.

  • Superb – Jitka from United Kingdom – 15 March 2025 (9/10)

A little modern apartment near Metro station. Automatic blinds were a great help. The balcony view was gorgeous. The host was nice.

What could be improved: I was happy with my stay and the apartment is nice, but I would recommend the host to provide more towels for the guests and get some bedside lights too. The bathroom could use a shelf in the shower. The kitchen is super nice, but the dishware and silverware could use some refreshing (there were only butter knives so I could not use the kitchen and the dishwasher was a little bit disorganized, and no bin bags or dishwasher pods). It would be nice to maybe provide complimentary coffee pots on arrival. It's just a few things that could make the experience a bit better, otherwise it was a great stay and I would book it again.

  • I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone unless it gets a serious deep cleaning and proper maintenance – Agnieška from Lithuania – 24 February 2025 (1/10)

The only good thing about this apartment is its location. It’s close to a metro station, making it easy to travel around Milan. There’s also public parking nearby, which is convenient, though finding a spot in this busy area isn’t guaranteed.

What could be improved: Unfortunately, everything else about this apartment was a disappointment. It was dirty and poorly maintained. The bathroom tanks including shower and bidet were broken, spraying water everywhere, and the water was never warm enough making showering nearly impossible anyway. On top of that, each person only got a tiny towel, enough maybe for hands but not for a proper shower.

The kitchen was a mess—dirty dishes, unclean surfaces, and even a smoked cigarette left behind.

The bed linen was questionable at best, and when preparing for bed, we found hairs and dust everywhere. Looking behind the bed, I saw not just dust but huge dust balls, making it clear that the place hadn’t been properly cleaned in months.

I’m just glad we only had to stay here for a few nights.

  • Exceptional – Lukáš from Czech Republic – 12 February 2025 (10/10)

Everything was perfect. No mess. Super comfy bed. Host reacted quickly and was really nice. Highly recommend

  • Exactly like the pictures 😍 – Kaydeei from Italy – 27 January 2025 (10/10)

It’s exactly how it looks in pictures and really clean! Host was very nice and welcoming will definitely go again😊 easy to get anywhere as bus stop is literally in front of the building and just 17 min away from centre, absolutely loved it

  • Exceptional – Douby from Morocco – 9 January 2025 (10/10)

recommend it very highly to anyone wanting to have a good base while explinng beautiful milano! We had a great stay at 's apartment. It is a beautiful place, immaculately clean and a brilliant location. I would book again.
