It’s tucked into a residential building in Milan, ground floor behind an unassuming entrance that feels more like visiting a well-read friend than checking into a hotel. The moment you step inside though — wow, it’s like someone designed the perfect reading retreat and decided to let travelers sleep there too.

The Literary Theme

You know what makes this four-star place special? Every single detail revolves around books and storytelling. The common areas have floor-to-ceiling bookshelves (and yes, you can actually read them), vintage typewriters scattered around, and cozy reading nooks with those perfect lamps that cast just the right amount of light. I mean, they’ve really committed to the concept — even the room keys come attached to little bookmarks with quotes from famous authors.

Location & Getting Around

The Porta Romana area isn’t exactly tourist central, but that’s actually what I love about it. You’re living like a local here, with proper neighborhood cafes and that authentic Milan vibe without the crowds. The metro’s about a ten-minute walk — Porta Romana station gets you to the Duomo in fifteen minutes, and there’s decent parking nearby if you’re driving (which, let’s be honest, you probably shouldn’t in Milan center anyway).

The Rooms

Each space feels like a private library that happens to have a really comfortable bed. The walls are lined with carefully curated books, and there’s always a reading chair positioned just right by the window. The bathrooms are compact but thoughtfully designed — sort of like a ship’s cabin but with better lighting. What surprised me was the attention to sound — these old Milan buildings can be noisy, but they’ve done something right with the insulation because it stays pretty quiet even with the windows open.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you’re the type who travels with three novels and always packs one too many, this place gets you. The staff genuinely seems to love books too — they’ll recommend local bookshops, tell you about literary events happening around the city, and I’ve seen them have actual conversations with guests about what they’re reading. Plus, there’s something deeply satisfying about falling asleep surrounded by stories from around the world. It’s quirky without being gimmicky, comfortable without being stuffy, and honestly feels like the kind of place writers would hole up in for inspiration.

  L’appartamento è davvero bello! Ci si sente a casa!!
  Inoltre è un luogo accogliente e pieno di cultura.
  Dispone di tutti i comfort necessari!!
  È in una zona davvero bella e tranquilla, accanto alla fermata del tram (ed altri mezzi) che vi porta al centro della città in 3 minuti!
  Accanto ci sono supermercati, bar… ristoranti!
  Non ho conosciuto personalmente il proprietario, perché ho effettuato il self check-in , ma è super gentile e disponibile!!!
  Ci tornerò sicuramente!

  Apartamento con todas las equipaciones posibles, pero lo mejor fue el aire acondicionado. Bien ubicado entre dos bocas de metro bastante cercanas y una estación de tren principal. Así mismo, había dos tranvías líneas 19 y 33 que pasaban al lado.
