Youhosty – Pellegrini 8/4 sits right in the heart of Milan‘s historic center, tucked into a narrow street that feels authentically Milanese. I’ll be honest — when you first walk up to the building, it doesn’t scream “hotel” at you. It’s more like stumbling upon someone’s well-kept apartment building, which is actually part of its charm. The entrance is understated, almost secretive, and you might walk past it if you’re not paying attention.

Location & Getting Around

Via dei Pellegrini is one of those streets where you feel like you’ve discovered something the tour groups haven’t found yet. You’re literally a five-minute walk from the Duomo — I mean, you can practically see the spires from certain spots on the street. What I love about this three-star spot is that it puts you right in the mix without the tourist trap pricing of some nearby hotels. The Cordusio metro station is close enough that you’ll never feel stuck, and honestly, most of Milan’s best stuff is walkable from here anyway.

The Space

Here’s where Youhosty gets interesting — each apartment feels like you’re staying in a local’s place rather than a traditional hotel room. The one I stayed in had this compact but functional kitchen setup that actually worked for making morning coffee and storing those amazing pastries you’ll inevitably buy too many of. The furnishings are modern but not trying too hard, you know? Clean lines, decent Wi-Fi, and windows that open onto the street below where you can watch real Milanese life happening.

What Works (And What Doesn’t)

The self-check-in process is smooth once you get the hang of it, though I’d recommend having the host’s number handy just in case. There’s no traditional front desk or concierge service, which some people might miss — but for me, it felt more authentic. The building itself has character (translation: the elevator is tiny and the stairs creak), but that’s part of staying in Milan’s old center. You’re trading marble lobbies for genuine neighborhood vibes.

Why Guests Love It

What really sold me on this place was stepping out the door and immediately being surrounded by actual Milan. There’s a fantastic little restaurant two blocks down that serves the kind of risotto you’ll think about for months, and the morning routine of walking to the corner café for cappuccino feels wonderfully ordinary. For travelers who want to feel like temporary residents rather than tourists passing through, Youhosty delivers exactly that experience — plus you’re saving money that you can spend on better dinners and shopping instead.

  What could be improved: We booked for 4 nights and they only gave us one big towel and 1 small towel each for 4 whole nights. When we wrote to them asking for additional towels they weren’t helpful at all and replied that this is what we get. The water wasn’t hot at all all we showered in lukewarm water while the weather was cold and the temperature was low

  The location of the apartment was perfect. It was also very clean and supplied with everything that you need to live a full life. Mostly I liked the host who was very kind to meet us earlier than we had arranged beforehand. He also helped to order us a taxi which was a problem for that time of the day. I would definitely go there again next time I am in Milan. Highly recommend!

  What could be improved: Accessing the property, like other reviews, was challenging. There is an entrance gate, then a building gate, both requiring keys, which one does not have on arrival. Then there is door code lock on the actual apartment door. We did not have this code on arrival. There was some confusion around access arrangements. On the booking form it states someone will meet you at property for access and to pay city tax. I received a link in a message (this was after Booking.com had informed me there was phishing on my account) from the host asking for me to pay city tax. I was reluctant to use this link to send money. I called the host numerous times as did my wife and they never answered. They kept telling me on message to pay the city tax or else I could not gain access. They also kept explaining the city tax and the reason for it (Doh) and threatened to refer me to the authorities. We wasted our valuable time resolving this. The host sent me a code for the door with instructions which explained how to open the door but not how to close it. We wasted more time leaving the apartment.
  
  The shower was powerful however the hot water did not last for two average showers. During the 2nd shower it went luke warm. This occurred every time we used it.
  
  The apartment was dirty (cleaning was superficial). The shower was blocked so one was stood in deep water when it was running. I had to remove the two metal plates to find and remove a load of hair clogging the pipe. Even after I removed this the water did not drain efficiently. The sink also was clogged and did not drain freely. I was unable to unblock as the blockage must have been deeper. Both need unclogging/unblocking with appropriate products.
  
  There was no washing up liquid, no cloth/sponge and no tea towel. What is the point of a kitchen without the basics! We therefore were unable to wash crockery.
