This apartment rental feels more like staying at a local friend’s place than a typical hotel experience. The building itself is classic Milanese — nothing flashy, but solid and well-maintained in that understated Italian way.

The Space

The room setup here is pretty practical for Milan standards. You’re getting actual living space rather than just a cramped hotel box, which I appreciated after long days exploring the city. The kitchen is compact but functional — perfect for making morning coffee or storing groceries from the local markets. What struck me was how Alessia has managed to make the space feel homey without being cluttered.

Location & Neighborhood

Sempione is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss. You’re walking distance from Parco Sempione and the Arco della Pace, but far enough from the tourist chaos around the Duomo that you can actually breathe. The Via Fioravanti area has this authentic residential vibe — there’s a great bakery two blocks down, and the morning routine of neighbors heading to work feels genuinely Milanese.

Getting Around

The metro connections are solid from here, which matters more than you’d think in Milan. You can reach the city center in about 15 minutes, but you’ll actually want to spend time in this area. The Chinatown district (hence “Sarpi” in the name) is literally around the corner, and the food scene there is incredible. I mean, you come to Milan for Italian cuisine, but the dim sum spots here are legitimately some of the best I’ve had in Europe.

Why Guests Love It

This three-star spot works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. Alessia is responsive when you need her but doesn’t hover, and the practical touches — good wifi, decent shower pressure, proper blackout curtains — show she understands what travelers actually care about. The 7.4 rating feels about right; it’s not perfect, but it’s honest and functional. You’re paying for location and space rather than fancy amenities, and in Milan’s tight accommodation market, that trade-off makes sense.

  The good:
  1. Location is great: right in the middle of Chinatown, not far from public transport
  2. The apartment is spacious
  3. The apartment is clean
  4. The host provides towels and a hand soap
  5. The kitchen has all the required utensils
  6. The host is responsive and provides all the required information in advance
  
  What could be improved: The bad:
  1. The apartment is dark as the windows are covered with blinders (in defense, should the blinders be opened the neighbors would be able to look inside the apartment)
  2. The fridge and the gas heater are very loud and there is no door separating the kitchen/living room from the bedroom.
  3. There are no showers gels or shampoos (I knew about it in advance and arrived prepared)
  
  Overall, I recommend the stay at this apartment very much, just prepare the following in advance:
  1. Shower gels/shampoos
  2. Cooking oil and spices (if you intend to cook)
  3. Earplugs

  What could be improved: didn't like that there is no table and chairs in the kitchen. However, there is space for this. There are only bar stools which are very inconvenient. There are also no tea and coffee cups. There are only small cups without handles which are inconvenient for hot tea. There is also no salt in the kitchen. There is also no shower gel or shampoo in the bathroom. If a tourist is visiting the city for 2-3 days, he cannot carry anything with him, especially if the tourist flew in, and there was also no umbrella in such a rainy city. In short, I am disappointed. And I do not recommend this apartment to anyone. However, all this can be fixed with a small cost. The main thing is that the host has the desire to do so

  Great location in Chinatown, a short walk to central Milan. Clean property with a modern kitchen. The courtyard is very pretty.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen could be stocked with a few more small items like salt and pepper, laundry detergent etc. The cleaner did come 15 minutes early but let us take our time to check out.

  Die Lage ist super, ganz mittig in China Town, Restaurants, Shops ganz in der Nähe. Auch nur 5 Minuten Gehweg von Tram Haltestelle. Die Wohnung ist klein und sehr einfach eingerichtet, aber passt gerade für uns mit 2 Kindern und 1 Dackel für 3 Nächte. Es gibt einen Lift, mit einem Bediener (als Schlüsselanhänger) kann man mit Lift fahren, daher zuerst Schlüssel holen wenn man grossen Koffer dabei hat. Im Hof gibt es Mülltonnen und werden täglich entleert. Mit dem Hund in der Wohnung war kein Problem, die Nachbarn hatten nicht beschwert bei mir.
  
  What could be improved: Die Hand- und Badtücher sind ziemlich veraltet und zum Glück hatten wir eigene gebracht. Die Info zur Schlüsselgabe hatte ich relativ spät bekommen und nachdem ich 2mal angerufen hatte. Die Nachrichten in Booking hatte man scheinbar nicht gelesen.

  Die Sauberkeit und Sachlichkeit der Einrichtung, die Lage in Chinatown ist gut und das Haus angenehm.
  
  What could be improved: Es fehlte an Einrichtung: Ein an die Wand montiertes Brett und 4 Barhocker ersetzen keinen Tisch und Stühle, an denen man arbeiten kann. Die Küch ist dagegen sehr überdimensioniert.

  Die Wohnung ist soweit gut gelegen im lebhaften Chinatown in vernünftiger Nähe zu Tram und Metro. Sie liegt in einem hübschen Gebäude mit schönem Innenhof (das ist dann auch der behauptete Balkon, mehr gibt es nicht). Die Wohnung selbst hat den Charme einer Zahnarztpraxis, ist vom Platz her überschaubar (soll heissen: eher klein), aber sauber und hat soweit alles, was man für einen (kurzen) Aufenthalt benötigt.
  Die Kommunikation mit den Gastgebern war professionell, auch wenn sie nicht immer auf die Fragen eingehen.
