PrimoPiano – San Dionigi Overview

First Impressions

When I first walked into PrimoPiano – San Dionigi, I honestly wasn’t sure what to expect from this four-star spot in Milan. The name translates to “first floor” in Italian, which is pretty much exactly what you get — it’s this intimate, almost residential-feeling place that sits right on Via San Dionigi. You know what struck me immediately? How quiet it was, despite being in a city that never really stops moving. The whole vibe feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a typical hotel.

The Ripamonti Corvetto Experience

Look, I’ll be straight with you — this isn’t the Duomo area where tourists flock. The Ripamonti Corvetto neighborhood is where actual Milanese people live and work, which I actually found refreshing. You’re about a 15-minute metro ride from the city center, but that means you get to see how locals grab their morning espresso and do their grocery shopping. There’s this great little trattoria just two blocks away that I stumbled upon, and honestly, I had some of the best osso buco of my trip there. The area feels authentic in a way that central Milan sometimes doesn’t.

Your Room and Space

The room I stayed in was surprisingly spacious for Milan standards — I mean, we’re talking about a city where space is at a premium. Everything felt thoughtfully designed without being fussy about it. The bed was comfortable (though maybe not the softest I’ve encountered), and there was actually enough storage space for a week’s worth of clothes. What I really appreciated was the attention to lighting — you could actually read comfortably in the evening, which sounds basic but you’d be surprised how many places get this wrong.

Practical Perks That Matter

Here’s something that’ll save you both money and headaches — they have free private parking right on site. If you’ve ever tried to park in Milan, you know this is basically like finding gold. I watched other travelers at nearby hotels spend 30 euros a day just to leave their cars somewhere relatively safe. The staff was genuinely helpful too, not just going through the motions. When I needed directions to a specific vintage shop in Brera, the front desk guy actually drew me a little map and suggested the best metro connections.

Why Guests Love It

The couples thing makes total sense to me — this place has that cozy, intimate feel that works perfectly for romantic getaways. It’s quiet enough that you can actually have conversations without competing with street noise, but you’re still connected to the real Milan. The neighborhood has this lovely evening passeggiata culture where people stroll around after dinner, and you’ll find yourself naturally falling into that rhythm. Plus, honestly, the value is solid for what you get. You’re not paying premium prices for a premium location, but you’re getting genuine comfort and that distinctly Italian hospitality that feels warm rather than performative.

  • Good, but need improvements – Lucian from Romania – 13 May 2025 (6/10)

The apartment was overall OK. The staff was very nice and helpful, which we really appreciated. However, there were a couple of things that could be improved. The place was clean, but some upgrades to the facilities and comfort would definitely improve the stay.

What could be improved: One of the bathroom lights was constantly on and couldn’t be turned off, which was a bit annoying. Also, the water was leaking continuously at one of the toilets, and the beds were not very comfortable.

  • Nice and peaceful – Jake from Philippines – 22 April 2025 (9/10)

    Good

    What could be improved: Clean

  • Pleasant – Irlandian from Ireland – 7 October 2024 (6/10)

Location is convenient to visit Milan, metro station is a 12/15 minutes walk away

What could be improved: Fixtures and furniture are quite old, cutlery and plates sticky, kitchen not equipped, one of the bathrooms has a damaged key that gets stuck in the keyhole

  • Pleasant – Nentor from Romania – 19 September 2024 (6/10)

What could be improved: Everything was good besides check-out at 7am💀

  • Very good – Mihaela from Bulgaria – 22 May 2024 (8/10)

    Excellent internet conection.

What could be improved: The place could be cleaner.

  • Good – Mohd from Malaysia – 17 November 2023 (7/10)

    Easy to check in

What could be improved: Bed. Joint bed

  • Great stay. Would recommend. – Adouella from United Kingdom – 16 October 2023 (7/10)

We had a good time here. Accessible by calling a number and this triggers the door to open. Doesn't cost anything to do but if you have a price cap (UK network), it won't allow you to call international numbers. Spacious with everything you need. 2 toilets.

What could be improved: Furniture was a bit aged… but you get what you pay for.

  • Very good – Ankur from United States – 3 April 2023 (8/10)

What could be improved: Selfcheckin process did not work for us. We had to wait almost an hour.
