Blocco Sauli Overview

First Impressions

The Blocco Sauli sits on a quiet residential street that feels refreshingly removed from Milan’s tourist chaos, yet you’re still well-connected to everything that matters. This four-star property occupies a converted building that immediately caught my attention — there’s something understated and sophisticated about the way it blends into the neighborhood without trying too hard to stand out.

The Neighborhood

Via Sant’Alessandro Sauli runs through one of those areas where actual Milanese people live their daily lives, and honestly, that’s exactly what I was hoping for. You’ve got local cafés where the barista remembers your order, small shops that close for lunch, and tree-lined streets perfect for evening walks. The Porta Garibaldi district is close enough that you can reach Milan‘s business center easily, but far enough that you won’t hear construction at dawn.

What Sets It Apart

Inside, the Blocco Sauli feels more like a well-designed private residence than a typical hotel. Each room has been thoughtfully configured — mine had these lovely high ceilings and windows that actually opened (you know how rare that’s becoming). The design strikes this perfect balance between contemporary Italian style and practical comfort that doesn’t sacrifice function for Instagram appeal.

The staff here operates with that particular Italian efficiency where everything gets handled smoothly without making you feel rushed. They seem to genuinely know the area — when I asked about where locals eat dinner, I got three specific recommendations within walking distance, not just the usual tourist traps.

Practical Comforts

What I really appreciated was how well the basics were executed. The WiFi actually worked throughout the building, the parking situation was straightforward (which, if you’ve driven in Milan, you’ll understand is no small feat), and the air conditioning responded quickly during those unexpectedly warm October days.

There’s a small fitness area that’s nothing fancy but has what you need, and the common spaces feel lived-in rather than sterile. The breakfast setup is continental style with quality ingredients — proper espresso, fresh pastries from a local bakery, and they don’t rush you out the door at 9:30.

Why Guests Love It

The Blocco Sauli works because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone. Instead, it does the fundamentals exceptionally well while giving you a genuine taste of residential Milan. You’re staying in a real neighborhood, sleeping in a thoughtfully designed space, and dealing with people who actually care whether you have a good experience.

If you’re the type of traveler who values authenticity over amenities and prefers discovering a city like a temporary local rather than a tourist, this place will make perfect sense. The 8.6 rating feels earned — it’s the kind of hotel that quietly exceeds expectations without making a big show of it.

Reviews of Blocco Sauli

  • Great! – Katherine from Australia – 19 October 2025 (10/10)

Someone was waiting for me outside when I arrived, to show me in. It was really helpful. They also gave me directions to the metro (which was only 50m away!), and how to get to the airport the next day. Very very helpful staff. The room was super clean and comfortable, with really nice facilities. Would stay here again if I came back to Milan. Also it was right next to a grocery store!

What could be improved: My propagate bathroom was outside of the room. But really not a huge deal.

  • Superb – Monika from Lithuania – 15 October 2025 (9/10)

The flat is located within walking distance of Milan Central Station, which was one of the reasons we chose it. Even though the flat is on the ground floor with small covered windows, it’s still very nice. There’s a common area for all guests to relax, with a small kitchen nearby and coffee/tea supplies. The owner, Antonio, was very nice and helpful, offering great advice on food spots and metro connections!

What could be improved: The only small suggestion would be to provide slippers, since the bathroom isn’t inside the room, but across the hall.

  • Superb – Leonid from United States – 15 October 2025 (9/10)

What could be improved: Special thanks to Antonio for his attention and support when we stayed at Bocce Sauli .

  • It was lovely! Perfect place and Super convenient:) – Annie from Italy – 10 October 2025 (10/10)

The place is perfectly located for public transpo. metro station is just 3mins walk and bus stops right infront of the gate. Super spotless, spacious living room and quiet. It has everything from toiletres, coffee maker, microwave, fridge, coffee, utensils, ecc. I must say that this place is perfect for group of friends when visiting Milan.

What could be improved: The place is quite difficult to locate but Antonio is super welcoming and kind. He message us via whatsapp to make sure that we will arrive safe & sound. We message him 30mins before our arrival since check in isn't 24H and so he waited us outside. The room is perfect with private bathroom but located outside the room which is a bit inconvenient.

  • Lovely well equipped and well located Milan apartment. – Dave from South Africa – 16 June 2025 (9/10)

Antonio’s communication was excellent and he met us at the gate as arranged. The actual location of the apartment was a bit unusual being a converted basement but the concept and layout could not be faulted. Room ok and bathroom superb. Air conditioner worked very well. Also a lovely communal area. All in all a good base to explore Milan from for two days.

What could be improved: Our booking landed up being two single beds although we prefer a double bed booking. Antonio arranged to set up the room as a double bed from the two single beds however the bedding did not properly fit and as a result we found the setup did not quite work but this was the only negative from an otherwise very pleasant apartment.

  • Amazing stay – Akshay from India – 4 June 2025 (10/10)

    Best location and great staff

What could be improved: Little difficult to find

  • Exceptional – David from Australia – 2 June 2025 (10/10)

Antonio was so easy to deal with and the bathroom was by far the best I had whilst in Italy.

  • I read all the reviews but the reality was even better! – Marta from Slovakia – 10 February 2025 (10/10)

The host Antonio was very helpful, both before and during the stay. A really nice person.

The apartment is also very nice, clean, new, modern. There are little touches all over that made this experience stand out. Like the fact that when we checked in there were two bottles of water waiting for us.
The room was cleaned every day and every day we got new water. Super nice of them

Both sides of the bed have an extension cord where you can plug in an european socket or 2 usb cables. They even had a UK adapter!

There's enough storage in the room for 2 people to hang their things, put their shoes away and keep their luggage.

A really nice thing is that the apartment is nice and warm. The floor in the bathroom is also heated.
Speaking of the bathroom. There's so many free surfaces for toiletries. It's a little thing that really makes a big difference.
Also there's a hair dryer, shower cap, shower gel, hand soap.

We didn't use the shared spaces too much but they were bery nice and clean and stylish. You can cook in the kitchen it's fully equipped. There's complimentary tea and coffee.

The location is also great. Very close to a tram stop, metro station, grocery store, a couple good restaurants and cafes. It also felt safe.

You can tell this place is run by someone who cares and someone who knows what teavellers really need and want.

What could be improved: The only downside of this apartment is that the walls are thin and you can hear the other guests. I was prepared for this though, seeing as I read the other reviews and I came prepared with earplugs. When we stayed everyone was very respectful and kept as quiet as possible

(My picture quality is bad because I just took stills of a video)
