Casa Zara – Metro Lines Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Casa Zara – Metro Lines on Viale Zara, you immediately get the sense this is a place that knows its audience. It’s not trying to be flashy or over-the-top — honestly, that’s what I liked about it right away. The ground floor location means no wrestling with luggage up narrow stairs, which anyone who’s traveled through Milan will appreciate. There’s something refreshingly straightforward about the whole setup that just works. The building’s exterior maintains that classic Milanese architectural charm while offering modern accessibility features that make arrival and departure seamless for guests of all ages.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s the thing about staying in Bicocca-Zara — you’re positioned perfectly without paying those crazy city center prices. The metro connections are genuinely excellent (hence the name, I suppose), and you can reach the Duomo or Navigli in about 20 minutes. What I really appreciated was how this area feels like actual Milan, you know? You’ve got local cafés, proper grocery stores, and that authentic neighborhood vibe that’s getting harder to find. Couples seem to get this — they consistently rate the location around 8.5, and I can see why. The proximity to major business districts like Porta Garibaldi makes it equally appealing for corporate travelers who want easy access without the downtown hustle.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was well-thought-out in that practical Italian way. Nothing unnecessary, but everything you actually need is there and works properly. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with that hotel-bed backache, and the bathroom had decent water pressure — small things that matter when you’re exploring the city all day. Storage space was adequate, though if you’re the type who brings three suitcases, you might need to get creative. The attention to detail in the furnishings reflects thoughtful design choices that prioritize guest comfort over flashy aesthetics.

Neighborhood Insights

What surprised me most was how much I enjoyed just wandering around this part of Milan. Viale Zara itself has this nice mix of residential calm and urban energy — you can grab an espresso at the corner bar where locals actually go, not just tourists. The Bicocca area has been developing nicely over the past few years, and you’re close enough to Porta Garibaldi that you can walk there if the weather’s decent. I mean, it’s not the most Instagram-famous part of the city, but that’s sort of the point. The neighborhood offers authentic Milanese culture with tree-lined streets and family-run establishments that have served the community for generations.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

This four-star property consistently scores well (around 8 overall) because it delivers on the basics without any pretense. Recent guests have been rating the location at 8.7, which tells you something — people leave here feeling like they made a smart choice. You’re not paying for marble lobbies or doormen in white gloves, but you are getting a solid base for exploring Milan that won’t drain your budget. It’s the kind of place where you think “yeah, I’d stay here again” rather than “wow, what an experience” — and honestly, sometimes that’s exactly what you want. The consistent positive feedback speaks to a property that understands its role in creating memorable Milan experiences through reliability and genuine hospitality.

Reviews of Casa Zara – Metro Lines

  • Ok apartment – Dimitrije from Serbia – 31 October 2025 (6/10)

Good connection with most parts of the city

What could be improved: It looked much better on the pictures, but still it was a decent place. The space was kinda empty tho. It was decently clean but could be better. There were no carpets nor slippers. There were no wall sticks to leave the towels during showers.

  • Fantastic – Ildikó from Hungary – 8 June 2025 (10/10)

It was perfekt location. Public transport is excellent.Next to apartment is the tram and metro station.
We were there qvickly with all the sights.
Apartment is so nice, comfortable, clean and quiet.
    We were very satisfied.
The host was very helpful upon our arrival.
We were able to leave our luggage there before checking in.

    What could be improved: –

  • Nice place but it seems to be too expensive – Vitalie from Moldova – 4 February 2025 (8/10)

    – the supermarket is located very closely
    – there's a very good restaurant next door
    – close to metro and tram stations
    – all facilities were present

What could be improved: – windows doesn't have any noice isolation. Every talk from outside was heard at night. Moreover, there was someone's scooter parking right below the window. So it was like someone brought his working scooter right near your bed while you were sleeping.

    – the floor was really cold. Take slippers with yourself

    – The entrance door's locker worked really badly. I came from the concert around 1AM and wasn't able to open the door using the key. So I was forced to go around the house and give the key to my girlfriend through the window (I was lucky getting the apartment on the 1st floor) so she would open the door from the inside.

  • That was too expensive for having broken bed and dirty cups in the cupboard – Maria from Montenegro – 31 October 2024 (5/10)

    A lot of space

What could be improved: Dirty dishes
    Broken bed
    Mold on the bathroom window

  • Great location, decent price – Markovic from Serbia – 18 August 2024 (7/10)

The location is good as the train station is just in front of the apartment and the metro starion line 5 is 7-8 mins of walking distance. The huge market Esselunga is close as well as a pretty awesome local pizza restaurant Ciccio. The bed is cozy though needs fixing a bit. The kitchen is well equipped. The neighborhood is quiet and nice.

What could be improved: There is no AC unit which drove me nuts as we visited during the summer. There was only one fan but it didn’t really help at all. The nights were tough because of the heat…

  • Exceptional – Kieran from United Kingdom – 17 July 2024 (10/10)

Great location, easy to access and well equipped

  • Pleasant – Akansha from United Kingdom – 14 May 2024 (6/10)

The property was clean, close to metro station and had supermarket just across the street

What could be improved: The shower sytem was not working properly. The water was too hot or too cold. There was no salt or sugar in the Kitchen. One of the plate of the gas burner was missing, which is a potential saftety risk. No coffee machine and no microwave

  • The quality of the apartment does not match the price – Milan from France – 14 January 2024 (4/10)

    – Very good proximity with transports (subway, tramway, bus, central train station), that can easily help to reach the downtown / airport / main Milano tourist locations
    – huge supermarket just next to the apartment
    – bathroom is clean and modern, as well as the bedroom

What could be improved: – the apartment is in ground floor, so you cannot open the windows because you’re directly on the street (parking street). Thus, you can’t benefit from natural light and you’re forced to “live” with closed windows for security reason (people can see inside the apartment)
    – the bed is worn and uncomfortable
    – the kitchen is not at the level of the rest of the apartment (old, not clean = The coffee maker was dirty with garbage inside) and no essentials such as paper towels, dish towel, pepper, washing-up liquid)

  • Passable – Orazio from Italy – 23 May 2023 (5/10)

It is near to the tram stop

What could be improved: Two months ago we told the property there was a broken gas cooker with a high safety risk. It is the same now. Disappointing.

  • Disappointing – Orazio from Italy – 20 February 2023 (4/10)

The position is exceptional. Very near the Metro station, near to a restaurant and a pizza maker. very close to the Esselunga Market.

What could be improved: The kitchen has four gas stoves, one of them is broken and poses a severe safety risk to you.
The windows in the bathroom does not close appropriately and a cold wind enters in the shower. In the winter it is almost impossible to have a shower, unless you prefer a chilly/frozen experience. I requested a tape to seal the window as soon as possible and was told by the host that I should book an hotel, not an apartment. Fortunately, after my call to Booking customer support, a gentle lady came with the tape and sealed the window and took us a hair dryer and an electric stove to warm the bathroom. After solving these issue, the apartment was comfortable, in particular with respect to its position. The gas stove problem is not solved.
