When I first found Charming Navigli! Functional Apartment, I’ll be honest — I was a bit skeptical about the exclamation point in the name. But you know what? It actually fits. This three-star place sits right in the heart of one of Milan‘s most vibrant neighborhoods, and there’s something genuinely welcoming about walking up to the building. The entrance isn’t flashy, but it feels authentic — like you’re staying somewhere locals might actually live.

The Navigli Experience

Here’s the thing about staying in Navigli — you’re basically camping out in Milan’s answer to a bohemian quarter. The canals are literally right outside, and I mean that in the best way possible. You’ll hear the buzz of aperitivo crowds in the evening, which some might find too lively, but honestly, it’s part of the charm. The area comes alive after 6 PM when everyone spills out of offices and onto the canal-side bars.

The Space Itself

The apartment is exactly what it says on the tin — functional. I appreciated that they didn’t oversell it; the kitchen has everything you need for basic cooking, though don’t expect gourmet prep space. The room setup works well for couples or solo travelers who want more space than a typical hotel offers. What I really liked was having actual counter space and a proper dining table — small things that make a difference when you’re staying more than just a night or two.

Getting Around

The metro connections from here are actually pretty solid, though I found myself walking more than expected because the neighborhood itself is so walkable. Porta Genova station is close enough, and you can get to the Duomo in about 15 minutes by metro. But honestly, some of my best Milan moments happened just wandering along the canals — there’s this whole network of bridges and side streets that most tourists miss entirely.

Why Guests Love It

This place works because it doesn’t try to be something it’s not. You’re getting a clean, well-equipped space in one of Milan’s most character-filled neighborhoods at a fair price point. The 8.1 rating makes sense — it’s not perfect, but it delivers on its promises. I’d actually stay here again, especially if I was planning to spend evenings exploring the local bar scene or if I had early morning flights and needed the parking option they offer. It’s one of those places that grows on you, particularly if you appreciate being part of the neighborhood rather than just observing it from a hotel lobby.

• Basically, we were satisfied. There were quite a few issues with the flat, but they were manageable. The city itself was – Lizaveta from Poland – 20 November 2025 (7/10)

  The flat has a very Milanese style. It is quite spacious, with enough room for two people working from home.
  The kitchen has a microwave.
  The area is safe, with many restaurants nearby.
  
  The check-in process is very convenient, and the door code is generated by the tenants, so you can be sure of your safety.
  
  What could be improved: 1. You will hear every step your neighbours take. The walls are very thin, so you can hear everything.
  2. The bed creaks a lot. If you are a light sleeper, you will wake up every time someone turns over in the bed next to you.
  3. You won't be able to work in the flat. As I understand it, Wi-Fi is shared between several flats, so the internet often doesn't load because there are too many users downloading stuff. It's impossible to make an online meeting because the internet connection is too slow.
  4. Coffee capsules are not provided for the coffee machine; you have to buy them yourself. The kettle was hidden away and treated with some kind of chemical. I had to clean it myself in order to drink tea (since there were no coffee capsules).
  5. The heating throughout the flat had been turned off before we moved in. We had to turn it on ourselves, as it was very cold, and wait for it to heat up the flat.
  6. All the wardrobes were filled with the owners' belongings (blankets, towels), and the wardrobe smelled strongly of age.
  
  By the way, after booking the accommodation, you will need to pay the city tax separately to the apartment owner, this is not included in the price.

  Es un buen lugar, el metro queda a unos minutos caminando, la calefacciòn bien y la cocina esta muy bien equipada para poderte preparar comida si tu estancia son muchos dias. La zona es buena y tranquila.
  
  What could be improved: El no poder hacer check in un poco màs temprano, tuve que esperar 3 horas para poder entrar. Además las llaves estan totalmente en otra calle, para una persona que lleva mucho equipaje y llega sola, es super complicado pasar de una calle a otra con todas las cosas, solo para recoger las llaves tarde 30 minutos. Ojo que el asensor a veces se queda pegado y el piso al que subes es el último.

  Lokalizacja bardzo korzystna, blisko do komunikacji miejskiej. Blisko restauracje, puby, sklepy spożywcze.

  La posizione, l’appartamento in generale semplice ma comodo,il quartiere tranquillo e a due passi dai Navigli
  
  What could be improved: L’essere arrivati alla struttura e aver aspettato più di un’ora buttati in strada per non aver trovato le chiavi dell’appartamento, e non essere riusciti a contattare il gestore Al telefono, e l’aver scoperto solo grazie ad un condomino la posizione della keybox non specificato nella mail con le istruzioni per accedere all’appartamento !!!!!! Mancanza di bidet!

  Dobra lokalizacja. Dobry kontakt z właścicielem.Mieszkanie jest duże posiada dwa balkony .Bezpieczna okolica wokół której jest dużo restauracji.
