Tucked away on a quiet residential street near Porta Romana, Cozy Apartment – Porta Romana, Milan feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel. The building itself is pretty standard for this part of Milan — nothing fancy, but solid and well-maintained. What struck me immediately was how peaceful Via Adige is, especially considering you’re still very much in the city.

The Space

This three-star setup delivers exactly what it promises — no frills, but everything you actually need. The apartment has a proper lived-in feel that I honestly prefer to sterile hotel rooms. The kitchen is compact but functional, with a decent fridge and enough counter space to prep breakfast or a simple dinner. I mean, when you’re paying Milan hotel prices, being able to grab groceries instead of eating out every meal is a real bonus.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about this area — you’re close enough to the action but away from the tourist crowds that swarm around Duomo. The Porta Romana metro station is about a 10-minute walk, which puts you two stops from the cathedral district. But honestly, some of Milan’s best aperitivo spots are right in this neighborhood. There’s this little place around the corner that locals actually go to, not just tourists with guidebooks.

The Practical Stuff

The room is clean and comfortable, though don’t expect Instagram-worthy interiors. What you get is solid furniture, decent Wi-Fi, and — this matters more than you’d think — really good blackout curtains. Street parking can be tricky during the day, but evenings are usually fine if you’re driving. The host was responsive when I had questions, which you can’t always count on with these independent places.

Look, this isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or a marble lobby. But there’s something refreshing about a place that just works without trying too hard. You’ll save money compared to the chain hotels in Brera, and you’ll actually get to experience Milan like someone who lives here.   What could be improved: Nie było klucza do windy, który miał być od samego początku. Mieszkanie jest wysoko, więc chodzenie po schodach było męczące. Klucz do windy dostaliśmy dopiero dzień przed naszym wyjazdem, więc trochę późno. Klima niby działała, ale była delikatna. Nie było żadnej herbaty, ekspres do kawy był ale kapsułek już nie było.

  The location of the property was quite convenient and suited our needs well. However, the overall comfort of the apartment was disappointing.
  
  What could be improved: The unfolded sofa bed was very worn out, with a deep dip in the middle that caused us to slide into it during the night. As a result, we consistently woke up with back and hip pain, which significantly affected our rest and comfort. Since we stayed for five nights, the poor sleeping conditions really impacted our ability to relax and enjoy our vacation.
  
  The rest of the apartment was simple but adequate. The kitchen appliances were basic but sufficient for our needs. We did notice that the dishwasher didn’t seem to work—although it’s possible we simply didn’t receive proper instructions on how to use it.
  
  Unfortunately, the condition of the bed was the biggest downside and left us quite disappointed.
