First Impressions

Walking into Damè feels like stumbling upon one of those well-kept secrets that locals don’t really want tourists to discover. This four-star gem sits on the seventh floor of a classic Milanese building on Viale Andrea Doria, and honestly, the elevator ride up builds just the right amount of anticipation. The reception area is intimate — I mean, you’re not going to get lost wandering around marble lobbies here, but that’s exactly what makes it feel so personal.

Location & Neighborhood

Here’s the thing about staying near Stazione Centrale — everyone warns you it’s “just a train station area,” but they’re missing the point entirely. You’re actually in one of Milan‘s most connected spots, and Damè takes full advantage of this. The metro lines are right there, which means you can be sipping aperitivo in Brera or browsing the Quadrilatero della Moda within twenty minutes. Plus, there’s this great little morning market just a few blocks away that most hotel concierges never mention.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed — you know how some places try to cram everything in and it feels claustrophobic? Not here. The bed was positioned perfectly to catch the morning light, and there’s actually decent storage space, which matters when you’re living out of a suitcase. The bathroom surprised me with its modern fixtures and surprisingly good water pressure — something you can’t take for granted in older Milan buildings.

Dining & Amenities

While Damè doesn’t have its own restaurant, the breakfast setup they’ve got going is solid. It’s served in a cozy space that feels more like someone’s dining room than a hotel buffet area. The pastries come from a local bakery (I asked), and the coffee — well, this is Milan, so of course it’s excellent. There’s also parking available, which is honestly a minor miracle in this part of the city if you’re driving.

Why Guests Love It

What really sets this place apart is the staff’s genuine knowledge of the neighborhood. They don’t just hand you generic tourist maps — they’ll tell you which aperitivo spot has the best olives or when the vintage market sets up on Saturdays. The 8.8 rating makes perfect sense once you realize that Damè isn’t trying to be everything to everyone. It’s a well-executed, comfortable base for exploring Milan, run by people who actually care about your experience beyond checkout time.

  The location was good, the central station and two metro lines are very close. The studio was also clean and recently renovated.
  
  What could be improved: But there was nothing special about this room that I would like to recommend. It also wasn’t soundproof, though that wouldn’t call a disadvantage, rather an authentic experience: there are neighbors, they have parties, cats and d watch tv, and you’re just in the middle of their lives.

  Great small apartment, historic trams (1 was useful) and metro both close, high floor. Yes, ironing board and enough wide coat hangers and a washing machine are provided. Currently difficult access due to construction until beginning of July was handled excellently by the helpful host. Check out the balcony half a floor down in the stairwell.
  
  What could be improved: Like in any older house, the water drainage is slow and pipes would need some care, but this is probably beyond what the generally excellent cleaning staff can do themselves, other than this, bathroom and kitchen were great.

  The apartment was airy and clean, it had everything we needed, including coffee, sugar etc. Nice sunsets! Comfortable bed, perfect water pressure, stable WiFi. If you know Milan you would consider it a central location. If you are new to the city – metro is close!

  Great location, 10 minutes to the city centre by train. Comfortable bed, balcony view is great. Provided with all amenities that you need.
  
  What could be improved: The door lock can be abit hard to figure out at first. No fan or aircon, can get hot at night, can’t leave windows open due to noise.

  A really cosy place to stay. Close to the subway and walking distance to the central station. Very convenient for gluten free travellers with a fully gluten free cafe nearby.
  
  What could be improved: Only thing we can think off is that the lock to the door definitely took awhile for us to figure out 😅
