Walking into The Green Hideout, you’ll notice it’s not trying to be something it’s not — and honestly, that’s refreshing. This three-star spot sits right on Via Giovanni Battista Sammartini, which means you’re literally steps from Milano Centrale station. I mean, you can practically roll your suitcase out the door and onto a train to anywhere in Europe.

Location Perks

Here’s what I love about this area — everyone thinks Stazione Centrale is just a transit zone, but there’s actually decent life around here. You’ve got that massive Eataly nearby for groceries, and the Porta Garibaldi district (where all the cool aperitivo spots are) is just a couple metro stops away. The room I stayed in faced the interior courtyard, which was smart planning because Via Sammartini can get pretty noisy with all the station traffic.

The Space Itself

The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star — clean, functional, with that European compact efficiency thing going on. My space had a tiny kitchenette tucked into the corner, which was perfect for making morning coffee instead of hunting for an open bar at 6 AM. The shower pressure was surprisingly good, and the bed was comfortable enough that I actually slept well despite being in the heart of Milan.

What Works Here

You know what really stood out? The staff actually knew their neighborhood. When I asked about getting to Navigli for dinner, the guy at reception didn’t just point me toward a taxi — he explained the metro connections and mentioned which stops to avoid during rush hour. The building itself feels more like a converted apartment complex than a traditional hotel, which gives it this lived-in, authentic vibe that’s hard to fake.

Why It Makes Sense

Look, The Green Hideout isn’t going to win any design awards, but it solves the Milan accommodation puzzle really well. You get a clean, safe place to sleep that’s connected to everything — airports, other Italian cities, the city center. The 7.6 rating feels about right; it’s the kind of place where everything works as advertised. If you’re the type who spends most of your time exploring the city anyway, this spot gives you a solid home base without the premium you’d pay for hotels closer to the Duomo.

  The staff was very nice, they helped me with check-in and explained everything. The room was clean and comfortable. All the appliances were available, even a washing machine. It was bright and spacious, everything was clean.
  The location is also convenient because it's close to the train station and the bus to the airport.
  However, there are strange people walking around under the windows and near the apartment. They make a lot of noise, play music, and don't respond to requests to be quiet.
  
  What could be improved: To get the keys, you had to go to one point and then walk back to the apartment to check in. Also note that you will have to pay extra for registration if you arrive at a different time than the specified time and want to receive the keys directly at the apartment.
  The location is also convenient because it's close to the train station and the bus to the airport.
  However, there are strange people walking around under the windows and near the apartment. They make a lot of noise, play music and don't respond to requests to be quiet. If you are traveling alone or in a group of women, this can add stress and discomfort to your trip.
  The soundproofing is also poor. You can hear your neighbors as if they were in the next room
