Let’s be real about the location — Via Padova isn’t exactly the postcard part of Milan. You’re in Porta Garibaldi area, which locals know is rapidly gentrifying but still has that gritty, authentic edge. The good news? You’re actually close to some fantastic local spots that tourists never find, and the Porta Garibaldi train station is walkable when you need to get to the center. Plus, there’s this amazing Ethiopian restaurant three blocks down that serves the best injera I’ve had outside of Addis Ababa.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in felt like a studio apartment — high ceilings, polished concrete floors, and these floor-to-ceiling windows that flood the space with light. The kitchenette isn’t much to write home about, but it’s functional if you want to grab groceries from the Carrefour nearby and save some euros on breakfast. What surprised me was how quiet it was at night, considering you’re on a main street.

What Works and What Doesn’t

The design aesthetic is genuinely impressive for a mid-range place — they’ve clearly put thought into making industrial elements feel warm rather than cold. The WiFi is solid (I worked from there a couple days), and the staff speaks decent English, which helps. On the flip side, don’t expect daily housekeeping or a concierge who knows where to get last-minute opera tickets — this is more of a “here’s your key, enjoy your stay” kind of place.

Why Guests Keep Coming Back

You know what makes this place special? It feels authentic to Milan’s creative spirit without trying too hard. The rates are reasonable for what you get, especially if you book directly with them. It’s perfect for travelers who want something with character but don’t need all the bells and whistles of a fancy hotel. Just remember to download Google Translate — the neighborhood still runs on Italian, and that’s actually part of its charm.

  ミラノ中央駅とドゥオーモの間の地下鉄至近という立地。夜9時までならスーパーがすぐ近くに2軒。冷蔵庫、洗濯機、本格的キッチン付きで生活するように泊まれる。広い部屋で快適だった。
  
  What could be improved: チェックイン前に入室するための短い動画を送ってもらったのだが、間違って全然違う場所、部屋の動画が送られてきたため、大変な苦労をした。親切な人に助けてもらい、ホストに電話してもらったため、何とか入室できた。洗濯機、冷蔵庫、電熱コンロはあるが、電源の入れ方などかなり難しく、使い方の説明は一切なし。宿泊直前にようやくホストから連絡があり、宿泊税をpaypalで払うよう指示されたが、登録していなかったので大変な苦労をした。WhatsAppでホストと連絡を取れるようにしておくことをおすすめする。
