First Impressions

Walking down Via dei Fabbri, you’d actually miss Fabbri Palace – B Home if you weren’t paying attention — and that’s part of its charm. The entrance is understated, almost residential, which makes sense since this four-star property feels more like staying in someone’s beautifully designed apartment than a traditional hotel. I mean, the building itself dates back centuries, but inside it’s been transformed into something completely modern without losing that old-world Milan character.

Location & Neighborhood

You’re literally in the heart of Milan here — Via dei Fabbri sits between the Duomo and La Scala, so you can walk to both in under five minutes. What I love about this street though is how it stays relatively quiet despite being so central. During the day, you’ll see locals cutting through on their way to work, and there’s this great little café around the corner where the baristas actually remember your order after a couple of days.

The Room Experience

The room I stayed in had these gorgeous high ceilings — probably 12 feet or so — with original moldings that someone clearly spent money restoring properly. The design is sort of minimalist contemporary meets classic Milanese, with warm wood floors and these really comfortable beds that aren’t too soft or too firm. Honestly, the bathroom surprised me most; it’s compact but everything works perfectly, and the rainfall shower has excellent water pressure (which isn’t always a given in historic buildings).

Daily Rhythms

There isn’t a traditional restaurant on-site, but they’ve got this breakfast setup that’s actually better than most hotel dining rooms — fresh pastries from a local bakery, proper espresso, and they’ll point you toward the best spots nearby for dinner. The staff here really knows the neighborhood; they sent me to this tiny trattoria about three blocks away that I never would’ve found otherwise. Parking is handled through a nearby garage, which is honestly your best bet in this part of the city anyway.

What makes Fabbri Palace – B Home work so well is that it doesn’t try too hard. You get the location and comfort you need without the fuss of a big hotel operation. The building has character — you’ll hear your upstairs neighbor occasionally, and the elevator is charmingly old-fashioned — but everything essential works beautifully. It’s the kind of place where you feel like you’re actually living in Milan for a few days rather than just visiting it.
