Hotel Berlino Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Berlino sits on Via Giovanni Antonio Plana in the Sempione district, and honestly, it’s one of those places that doesn’t try to be something it’s not. This three-star property has that understated Italian practicality I’ve come to appreciate — clean lines, efficient service, and no unnecessary frills. The lobby is compact but welcoming, with that particular kind of organized calm you find in well-run family hotels across northern Italy.
The Sempione Advantage
What I really love about this location is how it puts you right in the heart of residential Milan without the tourist chaos. The Sempione neighborhood feels authentically Milanese — you know, morning espresso bars where locals actually outnumber visitors, tree-lined streets that aren’t clogged with tour groups. You’re walking distance from Parco Sempione and the Arco della Pace, but more importantly, you’re connected to the metro system that’ll get you downtown in fifteen minutes.
Room Reality
The room I stayed in was exactly what you’d expect from a solid three-star — comfortable bed, decent-sized bathroom, and enough space to spread out your stuff without feeling cramped. The decor is pretty neutral (think beige and navy), but the air conditioning works well, which matters more than fancy wallpaper when you’re dealing with Milan’s summer heat. The windows face the street, so there’s some traffic noise, but nothing that prevented me from sleeping.
Practical Perks
Here’s what actually matters for day-to-day comfort: the Wi-Fi is reliable throughout the building, the front desk staff speaks solid English, and there’s a small breakfast area that serves a decent continental spread. I mean, it’s not going to change your life, but the coffee is proper Italian strong, and they have fresh pastries from a local bakery. The hotel doesn’t have its own restaurant, but honestly, you’re in Milan — step outside and you’ll find better food within two blocks anyway.
Why Guests Choose It
Look, Hotel Berlino isn’t going to win any design awards, but it does something more valuable — it gives you a genuine Milan experience without breaking your budget. The neighborhood feels real, the staff treats you like a person rather than a room number, and you’re perfectly positioned to explore both the city center and the more residential areas that most tourists never see. For the price point, it’s exactly what a three-star should be: clean, comfortable, and completely functional.

Reviews of Hotel Berlino
Efficient balance of cost vs convenience – David from United States – 4 December 2025 (8/10)
Bery pleasant staff, good price, great hot water.
Clean but poorly managed – Cwh12 from United Kingdom – 11 November 2025 (7/10)
The room was clean and well serviced. The breakfast was pretty good with a good solution of continental products. Also a some bacon and boiled eggs. Fine for 2 blokes visiting a motorcycle show but wouldn't take a female partner for a romantic break. We enjoyed searching the locality for a bar and food as there's no bar at the hotel.
What could be improved: The staff could do with being a bit more cheerful. We arrived to a miserable man working on a laptop. Restaurant staff could smile occasionally. The room was comfortable and clean but the shower sprayed all over the bathroom and could not be adjusted not to (wrong hose wouldn't bend). Also the sink plug (push down type) was broken. These should be sorted by management before clients stay. Poor management. Also no bar.Great stay with just some gripes about attention to detail – good value for money. – Amy from Ireland – 27 January 2025 (6/10)
The bathroom was lovely – I had several hot, long showers over the few days I stayed. The bed was very comfortable and I liked the amount of space and how clean it was – great value for money. The staff were helpful – I quite liked talking to the cleaner. I also liked the reception area and the lift functioned well.
What could be improved: One of the lights was flickering, and my room was directly above a car wash and next to a busy train line. The noise from these was a bit annoying at night but I slept well enough. I also couldn’t open the window as it had a locked shutter over it – so it was dark at all times in the room. Not a big deal as I spent all of daytime out in the city but I would’ve liked sunlight in the morning.
I opted for breakfast for 1 of my 3 mornings – I was just too tired to be up earlier the other days! I say this because it might’ve been that I caught the kitchen staff in a bad mood. I just found the breakfast lacking and that the one lady doing breakfast seemed to be in such a rush for people to finish up and leave. She seemed to be deliberately noisy around the room towards 10am. Not just banging plates around as is normal when cleaning up – when she pushed chairs in, they would bang rather loudly right next to you as you’re still waking up! Not a huge complaint as I know breakfast is still value for money but it’s the little things that make guests feel a bit more comfortable.
Overall I would recommend the hotel to others – it has great connection to the city and is great particularly for those travelling from Malpensa airport.Very good – Vasile from Romania – 10 November 2024 (8/10)
It's ok.
What could be improved: The sound from another camera, it's a fonic problemComfortable stay in Milan – Orthodoc89 from Turkey – 12 May 2024 (8/10)
The hotel was situated relatively close to the convention centre. A short walk every day was healthy enough to make it on time. The facilities were good. The fact that the italians use a bidet is always awesome 👌. The breakfast was nice and light, just as any italian breakfast.
What could be improved: While expected from the pictures, the walls are darkly painted (black and red), which gives the room a darker appearance compared to the time of the day. Other than that, the hotel is of good value for the money you pay.Good hotel. Noisy room. – Stef from United Kingdom – 14 August 2023 (7/10)
Good location but no metro stop nearby.
What could be improved: A constant quite loud noise could be heard all night inside the room. It came from inside the hotel but not clear what it was. Maybe the nearby lift?Good value for money – Chloe from United Kingdom – 31 July 2023 (8/10)
24 hr reception, close to bus stops, friendly staff
It was was exactly what we needed for and overnight stay was in Milan – Caroline from United Kingdom – 25 June 2023 (8/10)
All Non smoking, room was cool and comfortable. Had everything we needed. Staff were accommodating and helped us with our travel plans:booking taxis and providing us with travel card for public transport. Easy to locate and only a minutes walk from a stop on tram line 1. Breakfast was well priced and something for everyone.
What could be improved: Nothing, the hotel was was exactly what we needed for and overnight stay was in Berlin.Good for short stay – Gemma from United Kingdom – 22 June 2023 (8/10)
good for a short stay, cosy hotel and all essentials included, staff were friendly.
What could be improved: although it was easy enough to access public transport into the centre of Milan, the location was a little out of the way. Some amenities in our room were broken, like the air conditioning and hairdryerNice short stay – Cosmin from Finland – 2 June 2023 (8/10)
The location was quite good, close to the metro. The room was clean and we managed to check in a couple of hours early than the default.
What could be improved: The room had a hint of cigarette smell when we got in. Airing the room was enough to get rid of it.
