Hotel Brianza Overview
First Impressions
Hotel Brianza sits on a busy street near Milano Centrale, and honestly, you might walk right past it if you’re not paying attention. The building itself is pretty typical for this part of Milan — nothing flashy, just solid and unpretentious. But that’s actually part of its charm, I think. You’re getting a genuine slice of Milanese life without the tourist markup.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what I love about staying here — you’re maybe a seven-minute walk to the main train station, which sounds mundane but is actually brilliant. I mean, you can catch the Malpensa Express directly to the airport, hop on trains to Lake Como or Florence, or just use the metro to get anywhere in the city. The Porta Garibaldi area is also walkable from here, and that’s where some of Milan’s best aperitivo spots are hiding.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in was smaller than what you’d find in American hotels, but it felt authentically European — efficient without being cramped. The bed was comfortable enough, and the AC worked well during the summer heat. What surprised me was how quiet it was at night, considering you’re right in the middle of everything. The bathroom was compact but clean, with decent water pressure (always a concern in older European buildings).
Neighborhood Character
This three-star spot puts you in a real working neighborhood, not some sanitized tourist bubble. There’s a great little restaurant called Osteria del Borgo just around the corner where locals actually eat — try the risotto if you go. You’ll also find proper Italian coffee bars within a block or two, the kind where businesspeople grab their morning espresso standing at the counter. It feels authentic in a way that hotels near the Duomo just can’t match.
Why Guests Appreciate It
Look, Hotel Brianza isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s a solid, no-nonsense place that gets the basics right without charging designer hotel prices. The staff speaks enough English to help with directions and recommendations, and they seem to genuinely know the neighborhood well. For travelers who want to experience Milan like a local rather than a tourist — and save some money for shopping or great meals — this place makes a lot of sense.

Central, clean, friendly staff
What could be improved: There was no duvet with sheet cover – only bed top cover and plaid in the wardrobe. Aparently this is normal for Italians, but was quite unexpected.Very good – Pirminder from United Kingdom – 28 April 2025 (8/10)
The staff were welcoming. The two main managers were very friendly.
