First Impressions

Hotel Piacenza sits on a quiet residential street in Milan, and honestly, you’d walk right past it if you weren’t looking. The entrance is understated — no grand lobby or marble floors — but that’s actually part of its charm. It’s a solid three-star property that knows exactly what it is, and the staff greets you like they’re genuinely happy you’ve arrived.

The Neighborhood

Via Piacenza is one of those streets that locals use as a shortcut, lined with residential buildings and small shops that have been there for decades. You’re about a 15-minute walk from Porta Garibaldi station, which means you can hop on the metro and be in the Duomo area in no time. What I really appreciated was having a proper neighborhood feel — there’s a little bakery two blocks down where the owner remembers your coffee order by day three.

The Room

My room was compact but thoughtfully arranged, with a decent-sized window that actually opened (you’d be surprised how rare that is in some Milan hotels). The bathroom was recently updated, and while the shower isn’t huge, the water pressure was excellent. The bed was comfortable enough that I didn’t wake up with a sore back, which honestly is my main criteria for any place I’m staying more than one night.

Practical Matters

There’s no on-site restaurant, but the breakfast setup in the small dining area covers the basics — decent coffee, fresh pastries from that bakery I mentioned, and the usual continental spread. The front desk helped me figure out parking (there’s a garage about three minutes away), and they were surprisingly knowledgeable about getting around the city without falling into typical tourist traps.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Hotel Piacenza isn’t trying to be something it’s not. It’s clean, the location gives you a real taste of residential Milan, and the price point makes sense for what you get. I mean, you’re not getting a concierge or room service, but you are getting a comfortable base in a city where hotel rates can be absolutely brutal. The fact that I felt like I was staying in an actual Milan neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble? That made it worth it for me.

  This hotel suited us down to the ground for a weekend trip. We got in late the first night as in 1.30am and there was a lovely man in reception waiting for us. We had a room right beside the reception area and I thought I would be kept awake with noise, did not hear a peep. The hotel must have sound proof walls! Was an hour late for breakfast (due to not changing time on watch), and the lovely lady got back out items for us for breakfast. The breakfast is your usual contential breakfast of cereals, yoghurt, breads, ( also a GF option) eggs, pastries fruit and is all we wanted. The room had a double bed, really comfy and yes as per all other reviews the bathroom is a bit on the small side but to be honest we were in Milan to sight see so up and out early and back late in the evening and into bed so we had everything we needed, didnt even turn on TV in the room so dont know anything about that. The location suited us as we like to walk so 20 mins walk to centre was nothing. There was complimentary water in reception, really handy to have and the morning we checked out (which was 5.50am) the man in reception gave us water and croissants for our journey. I could not fault anything at this hotel. Yes it is a bit out from the centre but then the plus side of that is it's so quiet. A taxi to central station is €23. I was really impressed on how helpful nice all the staff are.

  Great charming place in Milan. The hotel has great infrastructure and is in a cute residential milanese area. The center, places like the Duomo are 1 hour walk away but 15 min by train. Super convenient to go around Milan.

  The property is very well located and the staff was very nice , they offered us a parking place free of charge for 1 night. The rooms are very small and the bathrooms are a bit outdated and very small as well. The breakfast was very nice .. we liked it a lot!
