First Impressions

Hotel Ideale sits on a busy stretch of Viale Dei Mille, and honestly, the name pretty much sums up what you’re getting — it’s not trying to be something it’s not. The exterior won’t win any architecture awards, but there’s something refreshingly straightforward about this three-star place that I actually appreciated. You know what you’re walking into from the moment you see it.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s the thing about this part of Milan — you’re not in the tourist bubble, which means you get to see how the city actually works. Porta Garibaldi station is about a 15-minute walk, and I found that walk pretty useful for getting my bearings each morning. The neighborhood has that lived-in feel with local cafes and shops that don’t jack up prices for visitors.

The Room Experience

My room was smaller than I expected, but it had everything I needed without any unnecessary frills. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom — well, it’s functional. I mean, the shower pressure was decent, which is more than I can say for some places I’ve stayed in Milan. The air conditioning worked when it needed to, though it took a while to cool things down on those hot August evenings.

Daily Practicalities

Breakfast happens in a small dining area that feels more like someone’s extended kitchen than a hotel restaurant. It’s basic continental stuff — pastries, coffee, some cold cuts — but the coffee is actually good, and the staff doesn’t rush you out. There’s no parking on-site, but you can find street spots if you’re patient, or there’s a paid lot a couple blocks away.

Look, Hotel Ideale isn’t going to blow your mind, but it does exactly what it promises. The staff remembers your name after a day or two, the Wi-Fi works reliably, and you’re paying Milan prices that won’t make you wince. For travelers who want a clean, safe base without paying for amenities they won’t use, it sort of hits that sweet spot between budget and comfort.

  The service was exceptional. They always had a smile and helped with every aspect. Their kind demeanor made our stay very pleasant. We even received a room with a balcony and extra bed, so we had extra room. The bathroom in the room was beautiful. The breakfast was good, too.

  Short walk from the metro and short bus ride going to the central train station.
  The room was just the right size which I can move around, and a bonus outside space (terrace) that looks on some vegetation and terraces of the neighbours.The bed was like a small double size and comfortable. The staff were friendly. There was a lift.

  Very helpful and kind staff, neat and clean room, quiet and peaceful place. 25 min walk to Milano Centrale (MC). There is a bus stop right at front of the hotel and it is a 8-10 minute bus ride to MC.

  I got the single room. It was small but well equipped.
  Breakfast was a nice one, I had in their garden.
  Staff is very courteous.
  It's near the Dateo subway station and anyway an easy reach by tram from the central station.

  The staff here was super friendly and accommodating. They let us check in early when we arrived after an overnight flight and were very responsive. There was a nice breakfast and a cute outdoor area with tables to eat breakfast or your own food in the evening.

  I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel is in a great location; you can reach by public transport the Duomo area and Central Station very easily. The neighbourhoods are safe, lively and with all the facilities you need (shops, cafes, restaurants, pharmacies…). The hotel room (214 – double room) was very comfortable, and was on the back of the hotel, with a window facing the inner garden. Very peaceful at night. I always appreciate a room with a small fridge, and this was the case. The bathroom has a powerful hairdryer and bidet. I have appreciated the refillable soap dispenser (instead of the courtesy small plastic bottles which are polluting). The bed was comfy, and pillows too. The TV was of a good size and with good image quality. Breakfast was good, with a good choice of food and beverage. The croissant was very good and fresh. You can have breakfast both inside but also outside, in the backyard, which is really enjoyable.
  
  What could be improved: Just some small issues:
  *there is not a wardrobe, but some open wall coat hangers.
  * I have tried to cool down the room but the AC didn't work. Maybe it was my fault as I didn't know how to use it; I haven't asked because I spent just one night there.
