There’s a small grocery store two blocks away that stays open late, and I mean, that’s the kind of detail that matters when you’re staying several nights.

The Room Experience

My room was on the third floor — no elevator, just so you know — but it was surprisingly spacious for Milan standards. The furniture feels a bit dated, sure, but everything works properly and the bed was genuinely comfortable. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night, despite being in the city. The bathroom had good water pressure, which honestly can be hit-or-miss in older Milan buildings.

Practical Amenities

Don’t expect a fancy restaurant or room service here — Hotel Lugano keeps things simple. There’s a basic breakfast setup in the morning (nothing elaborate, but decent coffee and fresh pastries), and the reception desk can point you toward some excellent local spots for dinner. The WiFi actually works well throughout the building, and there’s street parking available, though you’ll want to ask about the local restrictions.

  It was close to the metro and the Italia train station, as well as to a Carrefour supermarket.

  What could be improved: For Air-conditioner you should pay extra 5 euro per day.
  The walls are not soundproof, and I can hear the phone ringing from the person in the next room. In the morning, when the staff comes to clean other rooms, we wake up to the sound of the vacuum cleaner. The room does not have a refrigerator; the only one available is in the lobby on the ground floor.
  The description mentioned a city view, but we are on the first floor, and our windows face the hotel's wall and a small, dirty garden.
  This place is only suitable for a 1-2 night stay while visiting Milan.
