Hotel Minerva Overview

First Impressions

Hotel Minerva sits on Corso Colombo in the Navigli district, and honestly, it’s one of those places that grows on you. The building itself is pretty typical for Milan — classic Italian architecture with that lived-in charm you find throughout the city. It’s a three-star hotel, which means you’re getting solid basics without any pretense, and sometimes that’s exactly what you want when you’re spending most of your time exploring the city anyway.

The Navigli Experience

Here’s what I love about staying in this neighborhood — you’re right in the heart of Milan’s canal district, which means aperitivo culture is literally at your doorstep. The famous Navigli canals are just a short walk away, and trust me, this area comes alive in the evenings. During the day it’s pretty quiet, but once the sun starts setting, the whole district transforms into this buzzing scene of locals and tourists mingling along the waterways.

What You’re Actually Getting

The room I stayed in was clean and functional — nothing fancy, but the bed was comfortable and the air conditioning worked well (crucial during Milan’s humid summers). The staff speaks decent English, which helps, and they’re genuinely helpful when you need directions or restaurant recommendations. There’s no restaurant on-site, but honestly, you don’t want one when you’re surrounded by some of Milan’s best trattorias and bars.

Getting Around Milan

What really works about Hotel Minerva’s location is how connected you are to the rest of the city. You’ve got tram stops nearby that’ll get you to the Duomo in about 20 minutes, and if you’re into fashion, the Quadrilatero della Moda is easily reachable by public transport. I actually found myself walking a lot more than expected — Milan’s pretty compact once you get oriented, and the Navigli area makes for a great home base.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to win any design awards, but it delivers on what matters most — a decent night’s sleep in a vibrant part of town without breaking the bank. The value proposition is solid, especially when you factor in that you’re staying in one of Milan’s most characterful neighborhoods. You’ll fall asleep to the gentle hum of the city, and wake up ready to explore everything from the historic center to the trendy Brera district. It’s the kind of place that works because it doesn’t try too hard — just good, honest hospitality in a city that can sometimes feel overwhelming.

Reviews of Hotel Minerva

  • Very good – Philip from Ireland – 17 December 2024 (8/10)

    lovely room in good location

  • Good – Federico from United Kingdom – 24 October 2024 (7/10)

Great location – next to the train station, near navigo and 30min walk to the Duomo

What could be improved: The shower was very small and I could hardly move in it

  • Great. I'll be back! – Alistair from United Kingdom – 3 October 2024 (8/10)

Comfy, clean, located in a great spot. Minutes from Duomo, seconds from the metro. Great restaurants and bars near by. This place fulfilled exactly the need that I wanted it to.

What could be improved: In reality, there is nothing that I would change about this place. We knew what we were expecting. We weren't looking for a lot of time in the property, so it filled its role perfectly.

  • Wonderful boutique hotel close to metro and bus. Naviglio is right around the corner with lots of restaurants and shops. – Denise from Canada – 1 October 2024 (8/10)

    Location is excellent!

What could be improved: Mattresses could use updating.

  • Nice traditional Milan Hotel with freshly made coffee for breakfast – Margaret-ann from Germany – 25 August 2024 (8/10)

The area where the hotel is located is very good and near the navigali. There's a tram stop nearby. It's very easy to get to.

Loved the TV, bidet, that there was still a phone in the room, the large bed and the extra pillows and blankets.

The hotel had a lift and the room was large.

There was also good air conditioning with a remote… which was great as it was hot when we visited Milan.

Breakfast was good and the coffee was freshly made to order which we loved.

    Would recommend and stay again.

What could be improved: The shower cubicle was an okay size but they way the doors are installed makes it very hard to get in and out the shower if you're not a tiny person. You really need to squeeze to get in the corner door. It would be better if there was a curtain or if the shower door was the full length of the space fhat there is for a shower.. instead of wasting the space beside it and making the cubicle so small.

The small fridge/ chiller didn't work so well but it was a nice touch the have it.

Wasn't charged city tax until we were checking out…. luckily I could pay by card

  • Very nice option for a few days – Mariia from Russia – 22 August 2024 (8/10)

The room was big and had a very nice view on the tram line. Delicious breakfast. Easy access to the metro, a lot of small shops and restaurants around.

What could be improved: They had a renovation in the lobby during the daytime.

  • Great value for money – Anastasios from Germany – 12 May 2024 (8/10)

Beautiful location with tons of good bars and restaurants around. The hotel is good value for money with comfy beds and friendly staff.

  • Very good – Malcolm from United Kingdom – 24 March 2024 (8/10)

Easy access to Metro and Trams.

Safety deposit box in room .

    Great choice at Breakfast.

  • Very good – עידו from Israel – 12 November 2023 (8/10)

nice location. not near city center but close to Metro and near a really nice river with Bars and resturants on both sides

What could be improved: Bad shower. very low water pressure

  • Fair – Cinzia from Italy – 15 October 2023 (7/10)

    Kindness

What could be improved: Absence of soap in bathroom on the second day
