Hotel Principe Di Savoia – Dorchester Collection Overview

First Impressions

Walking into the Hotel Principe Di Savoia – Dorchester Collection honestly feels like stepping into a Milanese palace — which, I mean, it sort of is. The lobby hits you with these soaring ceilings and marble columns that make you instinctively lower your voice. You know what struck me most? The way the afternoon light filters through those massive windows, casting this golden glow across the antique furniture. It’s the kind of five-star luxury that doesn’t need to shout about itself.

Prime Real Estate

The location on Piazza Della Repubblica is actually brilliant if you think about it — you’re literally minutes from Centrale station, but the hotel faces this gorgeous tree-lined square that feels worlds away from the travel chaos. Milan’s fashion district is a pleasant 15-minute stroll, and honestly, I found myself walking everywhere from here. The Quadrilatero della Moda isn’t far, and neither is the Duomo if you’re up for a longer walk through the city’s heart.

The Accommodations

My room — well, calling it just a room feels inadequate — had these impossibly high ceilings and period details that reminded me why Italian craftsmanship is legendary. The marble bathroom was larger than most hotel rooms I’ve stayed in, complete with this deep soaking tub that I actually used (rare for me, but the day had been long). What really impressed me was the attention to modern comfort within all that historical grandeur — the air conditioning worked perfectly, the Wi-Fi was fast, and the blackout curtains meant I slept like the dead.

Dining and Amenities

The restaurant here, Acanto, serves this refined Italian cuisine that manages to feel both sophisticated and comforting. I had dinner there twice because, honestly, after a day of walking Milan’s cobblestones, the last thing I wanted was to hunt for another place. The spa downstairs became my afternoon refuge — the pool area has this almost Roman bath feel to it, and the treatments… well, let’s just say I understood why people book spa holidays. There’s also parking available, which in central Milan is basically like finding buried treasure.

Why Guests Love It

Here’s the thing about this place — it delivers that old-world Milanese elegance without making you feel like you’re sleeping in a museum. The staff genuinely seems to enjoy their work, which shows in those small gestures that matter when you’re far from home. Whether you’re here for business near Porta Garibaldi or planning to hit every boutique in the fashion district, the Hotel Principe Di Savoia gives you this perfect base where you can retreat into luxury at the end of each day. It’s expensive, sure, but sometimes you want to feel like Milan royalty — and this is exactly how you do it.

To book a hotel in Milan during opera season, visitors plan ahead to balance La Scala performances with quiet Navigli canal strolls.

  • Really lovely – Kathy from United Kingdom – 18 October 2025 (9/10)

They put out cake and wine in our room for my mum's birthday. They called us a taxi to pick us up from a location away from the hotel when we needed one. They provided a charger – They were all round great.

  • Elegant hotel with excellent service and great facilities, offering a classic Milanese experience. – David from Bermuda – 16 October 2025 (9/10)

We stayed two nights at Hotel Principe di Savoia and had a very pleasant experience. The room was comfortable and spacious, with a large bathroom that added to the sense of comfort. The overall facilities were elegant and well maintained, and the staff provided excellent, attentive service throughout our stay. The hotel exudes timeless charm and sophistication, making it a lovely base for exploring Milan.

What could be improved: If there’s one area for improvement, the room was a bit dark and the bathroom, while large, felt slightly outdated. We also found breakfast to be good but somewhat pricey. We didn’t have a chance to try the spa or the pool, but overall, it was a very enjoyable and comfortable stay that met the high standards of the Dorchester Collection.

  • Old school luxury in the best sense – Karen from United Kingdom – 16 October 2025 (9/10)

All good, but above all the service – incredibly kind, helpful and efficient with every request – and yummy room service!

What could be improved: Breakfast not included
