IMHOME – LARGO GEMITO Overview
First Impressions
IMHOME – LARGO GEMITO sits in one of those quiet Milanese squares that locals actually use — you know, where people walk their dogs and grab coffee without the tourist crowds. When I first walked up to this apartment-style accommodation, I honestly wasn’t expecting much from the exterior, but there’s something refreshingly unpretentious about the whole setup. It’s a three-star place that doesn’t try to be anything more than what it is, which I actually appreciated after staying at some overly ambitious hotels that promise the world and deliver mediocrity.
The Space
The room I stayed in felt more like borrowing a friend’s flat than staying in a traditional hotel — and I mean that in the best way possible. There’s a proper kitchenette that’s actually functional (not one of those sad hotel setups with a broken mini-fridge), complete with real dishes and a decent-sized refrigerator. The bed was comfortable enough, though the pillows were a bit too soft for my taste. What really worked for me was having space to spread out — something you don’t always get in Milan, where every square meter costs a fortune.
Location & Getting Around
Here’s what the guidebooks won’t tell you about this area: Largo Gemito is perfectly positioned between the Porta Garibaldi business district and the more residential Isola neighborhood. You’re about a 15-minute walk to Porta Garibaldi station, which connects you to basically everywhere you need to go. The neighborhood has that authentic Milanese feel — there’s a fantastic local market on Thursdays, and the restaurant around the corner (I think it’s called Da Giorgio) serves proper Lombard cuisine without the tourist markup.
Practical Matters
Let’s talk about the stuff that actually matters when you’re traveling. The WiFi works reliably — I had video calls without issues, which is more than I can say for some pricier places I’ve stayed. There’s street parking available, though like anywhere in Milan, you’ll need to pay attention to the zones and time limits. The building itself is quiet, which surprised me given how close it is to some busy streets. The check-in process was smooth, though I’d recommend confirming arrival times since it’s not a 24-hour front desk situation.
Why Guests Love It
What makes IMHOME – LARGO GEMITO work is its honesty. It’s not trying to be a boutique experience or a budget miracle — it’s just a solid, clean place to stay with enough space to actually live a bit while you’re in Milan. The kitchenette means you can grab fresh ingredients from the local shops and cook a simple meal, which honestly saved me quite a bit of money. For the price point and the neighborhood access, it delivers exactly what you’d hope for from a well-run three-star accommodation in this city.

Reviews of IMHOME – LARGO GEMITO
Amazing place i just wish the ac worked properly because its too hot – Patricija from Slovenia – 19 June 2025 (7/10)
The big space, balcony, kitchen
What could be improved: The AC didn’t work well, all three were turned on and on 10C and it still didn’t cool off the placeI would recommend this place, good value for money if you travel with family. – Margarita from Sweden – 11 May 2025 (8/10)
The apartment is well located, 20 min to the center by metro and close to food markets. Nice area around with cafes, pizzas and ice cream:)
Good enough space for a family of four. Well equipped with all needed for a comfortable stay. Very good beds and mattresses!
What could be improved: Everything was very nice. But as advice – good to add wine glasses to the kitchen.poteva andare meglio – Catanzaro from Italy – 26 January 2025 (6/10)
– Andressa from Portugal – 30 December 2024 (8/10)
O apartamento era limpo e era bem
Localizado, próximo a mercados e estação de metro.
What could be improved: O boxe da casa de banho estava entupido e transbordava com a pressão da água do chuveiro.Never again! – Kristijan from Croatia – 25 December 2024 (5/10)
Location itself is not so bad, 10 minutes walk from the metro station and the apartment is okay.
What could be improved: Quiet neighbourhood has a dark side, we were victims of a car burglary in front of the building on a street with a very expensive repairs following on our car, not to mention with no sympathy from our hosts. Nevermind the sympathy, but the cherry on top was the doorbell on our apartment on our check out the next day at 09:45 with the cleaning guy asking to come in, where he was politely asked to wait for us to finish packing since we are a family of 5 and we need some time to do so.
In a minute, I received a text message from the host to leave the apartment since the check out is BY 10:00 and leave the keyes inside… we (all 5 of us) finished packing in front of the building and left!Very good – Filip from Slovakia – 11 November 2024 (8/10)
It is an appealing apartment in a modern building with all the necessary amenities. It offers great value for the price.
What could be improved: The main downside of this location is that it can be quite noisy due to the many trains that pass in front of the building along the road. Anyway, we were traveling with a 2-year-old and it wasn't too disruptive for his sleep or for us. However, if you are particularly sensitive to noise, you might find it challenging to adapt.Overall, the location is value for money. – Simona from Romania – 13 August 2024 (8/10)
The apartment is easy to access, there are two subway stations at 10 mins. walk and the bus station at 2 mins., train station 10 mins. walk. There are a few Italian, Chinese, grill restaurants, pizzerias, bard and coffee shops/ pasticerias in the neighborhood. Also a couple of little grocery shops. The center of the city in around 40 mins. walking distance or a few stations bu subway. The apartment was very clean, well equipped, the building it is located in is very civilised. We stayed there in July 2024, 3 persons. The flat has 2 double beds and one expandable couch, so it can accomodate up to 6 persons.
What could be improved: There is no air conditioning, although they say it is and you can actually see in indoor units working. Actually there are no external units installed, so during the hot days we were staying there, we only had the ventilation that did not help to cool down the inside temperature.
The train railways are across the street, many trains pass by all day and all night. If one is a noise-sensitive person, this might be disturbing; it was not such a big problem for us.
The shower cabin doors are not closing well, lots of water may pour on the floor, if not paying attention.Worst place ever – Amit from India – 25 July 2024 (1/10)
Nothing
What could be improved: The house was so hot and no Ac was working. After complaining to the staff he said tomorrow technician will come to see.
The whole night, my entire family didn't sleep because of hot temperature and mosquito bites.
No toiletries were provided in the bathroom, and basic things like coffee were not there in the kitchen.Good – Adlanre from Lithuania – 16 June 2024 (7/10)
Butas naujai sutvarkytas. Švaru.
What could be improved: Neveikė oro kondicionierius, nors darbuotojas jį įjunge. Girdisi netoliese pravažiuojantys traukiniai. Nėra virdulio. Dušo durelės iki galo neužsidaro. Darbuotojas vėlavo atvykti ir paduoti raktus.Very good – Bakos from Hungary – 13 June 2024 (8/10)
Nice new accommodation
What could be improved: The air conditioner didn't work.
