Kibilu – Via A Da Recanate – Stazione Centrale Overview

First Impressions

Kibilu – Via A Da Recanate – Stazione Centrale sits in one of those transitional Milan neighborhoods where you’re close enough to everything but far enough from the tourist crowds. I’ll be honest — the name’s a bit of a mouthful, but once you find it on Via Antonio da Recanate, you’ll appreciate being just a short walk from Milano Centrale station. The building itself has that typical Milanese apartment block feel, which actually works in its favor since you’re staying somewhere that feels genuinely local.

Location & Neighborhood

The Stazione Centrale area gets a bad rap sometimes, but I actually found it pretty practical for getting around Milan. You’re talking maybe eight minutes on foot to the main train station, which means easy airport connections and day trips to Lake Como if you’re planning those. The neighborhood has this working-class authenticity — plenty of family-run places to grab coffee, and you’ll hear more Italian than English on the streets, which I kind of loved.

The Accommodation

This three-star place runs more like serviced apartments than a traditional hotel, and each apartment comes with its own kitchenette setup. The room I stayed in was actually quite spacious by Milan standards — you know how cramped things can get in the city center. The kitchenette wasn’t fancy, but it had everything you’d need for simple meals, which honestly saved me quite a bit on dining out. The Wi-Fi worked well, and there’s decent natural light if you end up working from the space.

Practical Considerations

The staff here operates more like building management than hotel concierges, which means you get your keys and pretty much handle things yourself. I mean, that’s not necessarily a bad thing if you prefer independence over hand-holding. Parking can be arranged, though you’ll want to sort that out in advance — street parking in this area is the usual Milan nightmare. The building’s pretty quiet at night, which surprised me given how close you are to the station.

Why Guests Love It

What really works about Kibilu is the value proposition — you’re getting apartment-style space at hotel prices, in a city where every square meter costs a fortune. The location might not win any beauty contests, but it’s genuinely useful for travelers who want to experience Milan without paying centro storico prices. Plus, having that kitchenette means you can stock up at the local markets and actually cook a bit, which feels pretty special when you’re used to hotel restaurant meals every night. It’s not glamorous, but it’s real Milan living for a few days.

Reviews of Kibilu – Via A Da Recanate – Stazione Centrale

  • Good – Andrew from Malta – 6 November 2025 (7/10)

    Location

What could be improved: Flushing, AC not working properly.

  • God position, but dirty – Emil from Romania – 30 October 2025 (4/10)

Very good position and the room was big

What could be improved: It was very difficult to enter the apartment. The bathroom floor was sticky, and overall the apartment was dirty. Beds not comfortable.

  • Great location, not very comfortable – Joshua from Australia – 30 September 2025 (6/10)

    Location is excellent.

What could be improved: The second bed was a fold out couch, which meant there was nowhere to sit in our room.

  • Superb – Madalina from Romania – 23 September 2025 (9/10)

Very good location, 3 min walking distance to Central Station, nice terrace sea arround with good Italian food( see Luna, 20 m from apartament entrance).

What could be improved: You should say on booking that is half underground, otherwise, nice apart.

  • Good – Daisielyn from Denmark – 17 July 2025 (7/10)

    Central

What could be improved: Dark as it in the basement.
Limited sunlight and cannot open the window.

  • Superb – Vishakh from United Arab Emirates – 1 April 2025 (9/10)

The local is very close to Central station. The property is inside a community and quite safe for solo travellers too.

What could be improved: Waste disposal was not easy to find and quite confusing.

  • Great Value and Comfort – Dennis from Albania – 5 February 2025 (9/10)

Very close to the bus station but on a quiet street. Apartment had everything we needed.

  • Good – Anirudh from United Kingdom – 4 January 2025 (7/10)

Very grateful that we were able to book last minute when we realised the previous place did not have a stove top. We just booked this one and within an hour after struggling with the phone to check-in online, managed to get into the room.
All kitchen equipment worked. There was a bidet in the bathroom which was good. Two minutes walking distance from the railway station. Heating worked well at the hight of winter. Beds were comfortable.

What could be improved: We wouldn't have booked this place as first choice normally. It is a basement in the building converted in to an accommodation. There is absolutely no sunlight that can get into the room. In such circumstances we'd expect all walls to be painted white or cream coloured and some good bright lighting in the room. The lighting in the room however was really depressing and the walls are all painted dark mostly which makes it even harder to see. The bathroom has been built as an afterthought. One has to be very careful not to injure elbows on the wall when brushing teeth. I was surprised that they even manufacture such small shower cubicles. My BMI is 27 and I could barely have a shower in it. If your BMI is more think twice.

  • Excellent Location, But Services Require Improvements! – Amitabh from Qatar – 10 November 2024 (7/10)

    1. Excellent location just 5 minutes from the Milan Central Station,
    2. Ground floor apartment.

What could be improved: 1. Services – a bed sheet was missing and after informing several times, they could not manage one! They wanted to repeatedly confirm if it was really missing; wanted photographic evidences so many times! Basically it seems that they don't have any control on their appointed cleaners and no one from the office wants to visit and check the apartments!
    2. Bathroom could have been better designed and constructed with better fittings, etc.
    3. The sofa bed is not comfortable.
    4. Why should guest dispose the garbage? Why not the cleaners? It seems the short-term rental management companies in Italy now want everything on the guests! Guests do online check in, scan and upload passports, dispose of the garbage!….next they will ask to bring their own beds and furniture??? (While on the other hand they charge so much!)
    5. And, they need 5 hours to clean these small apartments! (Check Out at 10 AM and Check In at 3 PM)!!!!

  • Excellent location with friendly staff – Girish from United Kingdom – 11 October 2024 (8/10)

    location & cleanliness

What could be improved: Natural light & cross ventilation
