La Casa della Zia Overview
First Impressions
La Casa della Zia feels like stepping into your Italian aunt’s beautifully renovated apartment — which, honestly, is exactly what this three-star guesthouse is going for. The building sits on a quiet residential street in Porta Vittoria, and I’ll be straight with you — the entrance is understated enough that I walked past it twice on my first visit. But that’s actually part of its charm.
Location & Getting Around
You’re about fifteen minutes by metro from the Duomo, which sounds far but really isn’t when you consider you’re staying in a proper Milanese neighborhood instead of tourist central. The Porta Vittoria metro station is a short walk away, and honestly, I found myself enjoying the stroll through these tree-lined streets more than I expected. There’s a great morning market nearby on Via Piacenza — locals buying their produce, not a selfie stick in sight.
The Space
The room I stayed in was compact but thoughtfully designed, with that particular Italian knack for making small spaces feel intentional rather than cramped. The decor walks this nice line between homey and stylish — think family photos mixed with contemporary touches. What I really appreciated was the attention to details that matter: good lighting for reading, enough outlets near the bed, and a tiny kitchenette that actually works if you want to grab groceries from that market I mentioned.
Daily Life
Breakfast isn’t elaborate, but it’s proper Italian — good coffee, fresh pastries from a local bakery, and staff who seem genuinely interested in helping you navigate Milan. The woman at reception (I think she might actually be related to the owners) gave me restaurant recommendations that turned out to be spot-on. She steered me toward this little trattoria three blocks away where I ended up eating twice because the osso buco was that good.
Why Guests Love It
Look, if you need a concierge in uniform and turndown service, this isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Milan rather than just visiting it, La Casa della Zia gets it right. The 8.4 rating makes sense — it’s the kind of place where everything works as it should, the neighborhood feels authentic, and you’re not paying for amenities you probably won’t use anyway. I mean, when was the last time you actually used a hotel gym?

Reviews of La Casa della Zia
Perfect for a weekend 🙂 – Linda from France – 9 November 2025 (8/10)
Clean, safe, calm. Everything we hoped for!
What could be improved: Poor soundproofing: we could hear the noise of people coming to their room in the night, and the snoring from the neighbourVery good – Мусина from Serbia – 1 October 2025 (8/10)
Clean apartment, there is everything for a comfortable stay and cooking.
What could be improved: Poor sound insulation: from the early morning we could hear water (or toilet flushes) behind the wall. The room had two tiny windows to the ground floor, the flat itself is located in the basement.Superb – Aslıhan from Turkey – 10 August 2025 (9/10)
The kitchen, the garden. The staff was very helpful.
Location was good. Close to metro stations, bike stations and markets.

What could be improved: nothingGood location, many restaurants around, spacicious room for family of 4 – Vu from United Kingdom – 27 June 2025 (8/10)
Location is not city centre, but not too far from it. You can just take a bus or tram to city centre.
There are many restaurants around the place, so you can really enjoy local food. There are one or two Michelin guide restaurants in walking distance too.
The room, toilet are clean. There are two big beds which is enough for a family of 4.
The decorations are not the best, but good enough. It is not a hotel so it's expected, ideal place to rest and explore the city.Superb – Melis from Turkey – 28 May 2025 (9/10)
Location is super nice, it's 6-7 minutes to metro station and 35-40 minutes to center on foot. Our room was excellent, it was small but enough fot two, had access to the little garden. There is kitchen where you can find every utensils you may need. Pascal, the host, is such a nice and welcoming person, I want to thank to him again. 🙂
What could be improved: The only negative thing was that the bathroom was a little bit small, but still works well.Clean, safe place to stay – Anna from Sweden – 19 April 2025 (9/10)
Good place to stay, 35 minutes walking from Milano Centrale. We enjoyed walking, safe clean erea. Many shops, buses, metro close to hotel. They have even Netflix.
It was clean during our stay, we were able to use kitchen.
What could be improved: Plastic chairs in the room a bit uncomfortable. We had a nice stay! Check-in went smoothly and the location was great! – Linda from Netherlands – 27 October 2024 (8/10)
Location, clean, check-in
What could be improved: You could hear the neighboring sounds very wellSuperb – Biolab from Hungary – 14 October 2024 (9/10)
Nice and clean, good transport.
Very good – Adriana from United Kingdom – 2 October 2024 (8/10)
The room was comfortable and nicely decorated,
What could be improved: we could hear everything happening in the hallway and neighboring rooms. On a couple of occasions, someone even tried to enter our room, which was quite unsettling. This made it difficult to fully relax during our stay.
