Monte Nero Charme Apartment Overview

First Impressions

Monte Nero Charme Apartment sits on a quiet tree-lined street in Milan‘s Porta Romana district, and honestly, it’s one of those places that feels more like staying at a stylish friend’s place than a traditional hotel. The building has that classic Milanese residential charm — you know, the kind with wrought-iron balconies and those tall windows that let in gorgeous afternoon light. When I first walked up, I actually thought I might be in the wrong spot because it blends so seamlessly into the neighborhood.

Location & Neighborhood

Porta Romana is perfect if you want to experience Milan like a local rather than just hitting the tourist spots. You’re about a 15-minute metro ride from the Duomo, but honestly, the real magic happens right in this area. There’s this fantastic morning market just a few blocks away where locals do their grocery shopping, and I mean proper Italians arguing over tomatoes — it’s brilliant. The parking situation is typical Milan (challenging), but the metro connections are solid, so you really don’t need a car here.

The Apartment Experience

This three-star property gets the apartment concept right — each apartment feels thoughtfully designed rather than just thrown together. The kitchenette is actually functional (shocking, I know), with a proper coffee maker that’ll save you from hunting down caffeine first thing in the morning. The spaces have character too — exposed beams in some units, modern touches that don’t feel sterile, and those huge windows I mentioned that make everything feel airy and bright.

Daily Life & Practicalities

What I really appreciated was how the staff manages to be helpful without being intrusive — they’ll give you restaurant recommendations that locals actually go to, not just the touristy places near the cathedral. The building stays pretty quiet even though you’re in the city, and the WiFi works properly (always a relief when you’re trying to plan your next day). There’s no on-site restaurant, but with that kitchenette and the neighborhood’s café culture, you’ll probably prefer exploring anyway.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to wow you with fancy amenities or over-the-top service, but that’s sort of the point. Monte Nero Charme Apartment gives you a genuine slice of Milanese residential life while keeping you connected to everything the city offers. You’ll wake up to the sounds of the neighborhood coming alive, grab a proper espresso at the corner bar (where the barista will remember your order by day three), and feel like you’ve discovered something authentic. It’s that rare find where the location, the space, and the whole experience just work together naturally.

Reviews of Monte Nero Charme Apartment

  • Quite a charming place (with some organisational chaos) – Julian from Switzerland – 15 October 2025 (6/10)

Location was great, the apartment is charming

What could be improved: Check-in time was quite late (and then got delayed by 1.5h)

  • Exceptional – Gergina from Bulgaria – 17 July 2025 (10/10)

Great location. There is a metro station very close, and a bus stop right opposite the apartment. The apartment is old, but it has an atmosphere that complements the feeling of the aristocratic spirit of Milan, the high ceilings in the rooms give spaceand and a sense of spaciousness.

What could be improved: I would recommend a solution that would solve the issue of water leaking from the shower stall into the bathroom. Maybe the threshold is low or the drain needs to absorb the water more efficiently, but I'm sure the owner will find the best solution for their guests.

  • I was very happy in principle – Anonymous from United Kingdom – 6 June 2025 (8/10)

    Great Locatioin

What could be improved: Lights on the stairs, a little dark

  • Good – Morgan from France – 23 April 2025 (7/10)

    L’emplacement

What could be improved: Très bruyant

  • Több napos pihentető tartózkodásra kiválóan alkalmas. – Géza from Hungary – 1 January 2025 (8/10)

    Jó elhelyezkedés
    Tisztaság
Nagyon kényelmes ágy (a kanapé is)

What could be improved: A konyha felszereltségét kissé hiányosnak találtuk.

  • Muy bien – Mariano from Spain – 24 October 2024 (8/10)

Muy lindo barrio. Centrico pero no masivo y con varias opciones de restauracion en la zona

What could be improved: Podria haber mampara en la ducha porque se inunda mucho. Podrian dejar opciones de te y cafe

  • Very pleasant and I will come back one day – Kateřina from Czech Republic – 12 August 2024 (9/10)

it was very cozy, clean and in a good location. I especially liked the way the apartment was furnished

What could be improved: the only thing we missed was air conditioning

  • Disappointing – Rehab from Egypt – 17 February 2024 (4/10)

    Location

What could be improved: The window didn’t close well that is why we felt cold at night
The washing machine didn’t work and no one responds

  • Weekend getaway – Reni from Bulgaria – 4 February 2024 (7/10)

Easy to find, close to public transport. The apartment is spacious, beds were comfy. It is good for a short stay!

What could be improved: As it is on a main street, it is noisy during the night, windows are old and you can basically hear everything. Loud neighbors – my parents could not sleep well because of the girls next to us laughing all night.

  • Perfect for a short stay in Milan. – Zoë from Germany – 19 October 2023 (8/10)

This property is a good base for a city trip and offers all the amenities one needs. The location is great with a subway station at walking distance and a tram in front of the door that takes you right up to Naviglio Grande.

What could be improved: It was a little dark in the apartment as it was not easy to open the window shutters, and as the property is a little older, the walls are very thin so it was a little noisy and we could hear the neighbors at night.
