First Impressions

Olona Place 2 sits on a quiet street that feels refreshingly removed from Milan’s tourist chaos, yet you’re still dead center in everything that matters. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance — nothing flashy, but you immediately sense this four-star property knows what it’s doing. Walking up, I was struck by how the entrance manages to feel both modern and respectfully Milanese at the same time.

Location That Actually Makes Sense

Here’s what I love about Via Olona — it’s one of those streets that locals use as a shortcut, which means you’re genuinely in Milan rather than some sanitized hotel district. The Navigli canals are basically around the corner (maybe a seven-minute walk), and honestly, that’s where you want to be for dinner anyway. Porta Genova station is close enough that you can easily hop on the metro, but far enough that you’re not dealing with commuter crowds outside your door.

The Room Experience

My room was smaller than American standards but smartly designed — everything had its place, and the bed was actually comfortable, which isn’t always a given in European hotels. The bathroom surprised me with its size, and there’s something satisfying about Italian fixtures that just work properly. What really won me over was the soundproofing; you’d never guess you’re in the heart of a major city when you close that door.

Neighborhood Insights

The area around Olona Place 2 feels like real Milan in the best way. There’s a fantastic restaurant called Osteria del Borgo literally two blocks away that serves proper Lombard cuisine — not the tourist stuff you’ll find near the Duomo. During the day, you can walk to Brera in about fifteen minutes, or head toward Porta Ticinese for that perfect mix of vintage shops and aperitivo spots. I actually preferred staying here over the more obvious hotel clusters near Centrale or Cadorna.

Why Guests Love It

You know what sets this place apart? It doesn’t try too hard. The staff genuinely seems to care about your experience without being overly formal, and they know the neighborhood well enough to give you actual recommendations rather than just pointing you toward the obvious attractions. The whole operation runs smoothly — I mean, parking in central Milan is usually a nightmare, but they’ve sorted that out if you need it. It’s the kind of hotel where you feel like you’ve discovered something rather than just booked something.

  Good location, very near to the subway, which is handy. There's a 24-hour grocery shop just a few steps away. The room is clean, we have everything we need. There's a lift which is helpful as our room was on the 4th floor. The owner is nice and chatted with him via messages. There's good communication, information, and instructions that were easy to follow. The bed was comfortable. Good value for money.

  The location is perfect. Near the metro station, to most of tourist attractions and restaurants, cafes and supermarkets. The apartment was so clean. There were so many facilities.

  Excellent place : 5 min walking distance from Metro, friendly owner, a kitchenette, welcome tea ( special thanks for that), clean bedding.

  Cozy and clean apartment opposite of Leonardo da Vinci Museum of Science and Technology. Apartment is very closed to metro station, just a few minutes by walk (not more than 5 minutes).
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen was poorly equipped for someone who wants to cook. Fortunately, this was not our case, we enjoyed Italian food in restaurants.

  The property felt very homey, it had everything that you would need in an apartment. The host was also very nice and replied quickly to messages. The instructions to enter the property were also very clear and helpful.
