Mine had this gorgeous marble bathroom that was probably twice the size of what you’d expect in central Milan. The design walks this nice line between respecting the building’s 18th-century bones and feeling thoroughly modern — think rich fabrics, contemporary art, and lighting that actually works for reading.

Breakfast happens in this lovely glass-covered courtyard that catches the morning light perfectly. It’s not a huge spread, but everything’s thoughtfully chosen — proper espresso, fresh pastries from a local bakery, and they’ll make you eggs however you want them. The staff here really gets the balance between being helpful and giving you space. There’s a small spa downstairs that’s perfect for unwinding after walking around the city all day, though honestly, you might be too busy exploring to use it much.

  We stayed for one night in room 5 at this wonderful boutique hotel. We had two balconies and the best walk in shower! A very comfortable bed and a great time all round. The staff were lovely. They made us the best negronis and we had complimentary fizz when we arrived 🙂

  Excellent location, just off the main busy street, so it’s quiet and peaceful, yet within walking distance of most places we visited. The staff were helpful and accommodating, and the buffet breakfast offered great choices, though the room itself was a bit small.

  What could be improved: Our room was freezing cold. There is a radiator in the bathroom but we were told they don’t turn the heat on until around October 13. I think heat should be based on the temperatures on that day. It was chilly and rainy both days we were there so I expected heat. Also, the shower was in the strangest place. It is not in the bathroom. When you walk in the room
  door the shower area was on the right side with glass doors. The shower steam fills the room. Very odd.
