Palazzo Segreti Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Palazzo Segreti on Via San Tomaso, you’d almost miss it if you weren’t looking — and that’s exactly the point. This four-star boutique gem sits tucked away in Milan‘s historic Brera district, behind an understated facade that gives nothing away. Once you step inside though, you realize why it’s called “secret palace” — the intimate lobby feels more like stepping into a sophisticated Milanese friend’s home than a hotel.
The Neighborhood Advantage
You know what’s brilliant about this location? You’re literally two minutes from La Scala, but you’re not dealing with the tourist chaos of the main drags. The narrow cobblestone streets around here are lined with art galleries, vintage shops, and those tiny aperitivo bars where locals actually hang out. I mean, you can walk to the Duomo in ten minutes, but honestly, you’ll probably find yourself just wandering around Brera instead — it’s that kind of neighborhood that pulls you in.
The Room Experience
Each room here feels completely different — some have original frescoed ceilings, others feature exposed beams, and a few come with tiny balconies overlooking the courtyard. Mine had this gorgeous marble bathroom that was probably twice the size of what you’d expect in central Milan. The design walks this nice line between respecting the building’s 18th-century bones and feeling thoroughly modern — think rich fabrics, contemporary art, and lighting that actually works for reading.
Daily Rhythms
Breakfast happens in this lovely glass-covered courtyard that catches the morning light perfectly. It’s not a huge spread, but everything’s thoughtfully chosen — proper espresso, fresh pastries from a local bakery, and they’ll make you eggs however you want them. The staff here really gets the balance between being helpful and giving you space. There’s a small spa downstairs that’s perfect for unwinding after walking around the city all day, though honestly, you might be too busy exploring to use it much.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s what really sets Palazzo Segreti apart — it feels authentically Milanese rather than generically boutique-y. The building has this genuine history (it actually was a noble family’s palace), and they’ve preserved that sense of stepping into Milan’s past while making sure you have everything you need as a modern traveler. Plus, there’s something satisfying about discovering a place that feels like your own secret find in a city where everyone seems to know all the same spots.

We stayed for one night in room 5 at this wonderful boutique hotel. We had two balconies and the best walk in shower! A very comfortable bed and a great time all round. The staff were lovely. They made us the best negronis and we had complimentary fizz when we arrived 🙂

What could be improved: maybe a bathtubFantastic little boutique hotel in the middle of Milan!! – Mona from Switzerland – 3 November 2025 (10/10)
Excellent location, just off the main busy street, so it’s quiet and peaceful, yet within walking distance of most places we visited. The staff were helpful and accommodating, and the buffet breakfast offered great choices, though the room itself was a bit small.
What could be improved: Breakfast room was tight.Loved the hotel location, the decor, the breakfast and staff. – Kimberly from United States – 1 November 2025 (8/10)
The property was very unique and in a great location. The staff was great.
What could be improved: Our room was freezing cold. There is a radiator in the bathroom but we were told they don’t turn the heat on until around October 13. I think heat should be based on the temperatures on that day. It was chilly and rainy both days we were there so I expected heat. Also, the shower was in the strangest place. It is not in the bathroom. When you walk in the room
door the shower area was on the right side with glass doors. The shower steam fills the room. Very odd.Superb – Luc from Belgium – 27 October 2025 (9/10)
