When I first walked up to Piazza Guglielmo Oberdan, I was struck by how this three-star place manages to feel both residential and central at the same time. The building itself has that classic Milanese charm without trying too hard to impress.

Location & Getting Around

You know what’s great about staying near Porta Venezia? You’re in this sweet spot where Milan feels manageable — close enough to walk to the cathedral in about ten minutes, but far enough from the tourist chaos to actually sleep at night. The Oberdan metro stop is right there, which means you can hop on the green line and be anywhere in the city without thinking twice. I actually found myself walking everywhere though, because the neighborhoods between here and the Duomo are perfect for wandering.

The Space Itself

The apartment really lives up to that “open space” promise in its name. It’s one of those places where the living area flows naturally, and you don’t feel cramped even if you’re traveling with friends or family. The two bathrooms thing isn’t just a marketing gimmick either — it actually makes a difference when you’re getting ready to explore the city. The kitchen is functional enough that I made coffee every morning, though honestly, with all the great cafés nearby, I didn’t do much more cooking than that.

What Makes It Special

This isn’t a place trying to be something it’s not, and I mean that in the best way. The room setup feels like you’re staying in a real Milanese home rather than a generic hotel. The windows let in great natural light, and from some angles, you can actually catch glimpses of the city’s rooftops. What struck me most was how quiet it gets at night — Piazza Oberdan has this residential vibe that lets you recharge between all the sightseeing and shopping.

Why Guests Love It

People keep coming back here because it hits that perfect balance between location and value. You’re not paying Duomo-adjacent hotel prices, but you’re still close enough to walk to everything that matters. The two bathrooms alone make it worth considering if you’re sharing the space, and the open layout means everyone isn’t constantly bumping into each other. Plus, there’s something satisfying about staying in a neighborhood where you’ll see actual Milanese people going about their daily lives, not just other tourists taking selfies.

  The location is perfect. Very convenient with the metro station and trams stops within close walking distance. There are also plenty of cafes and restaurants nearby. The apartment is very spacious and clean.
  
  What could be improved: As there is a café/restaurant just next door and the windows of the apartment overlook the café/restaurant, there is the smell of food that infiltrates into the apartment which is not too pleasant.
  The apartment being on the first floor, is not served by the elevator so this is something to take into account if you have a few big suitcases!

  Great location, good size for 3 people. Had aiconditioning and two bathrooms.
  
  What could be improved: Basic amenities were not provided, such as dishwashing liquid, tea towels, sponges, cleaning clothes, spare toilet paper. There was a dishwasher, but no dishwasher tablets provided for it to be functional. No clothes line to dry clothes, although a washing machine was provided.

  You get very clear instructions on how to enter the building with a video showing exactly how to get in.
  
  What could be improved: We had issues with the shower as the boiler wasn't working but the host quickly fixed the issue and even compensated us for the inconvenience. They handled the issue so well and helped us so quickly. I still highly recommend the host and the accommodation!
