When I first walked up to PrimePiano – Albertini Flats, I’ll be honest — it doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside. Tucked into a quiet residential street in the Sempione district, it feels more like you’re visiting a well-connected friend who happens to have impeccable taste. The building itself has that understated Milanese elegance that grows on you, and there’s something refreshing about stepping away from the typical hotel lobby chaos into what feels like a sophisticated apartment building.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what’s great about staying in Sempione? You’re close enough to everything without being in the thick of tourist madness. Milan‘s city center is just a metro ride away, but honestly, I found myself walking more often than expected — there’s something about the tree-lined streets that makes you want to explore on foot. The Sempione Park is practically around the corner, which is perfect for morning runs or just escaping the city buzz for a bit.

The Apartment Experience

This four-star place operates more like serviced apartments than traditional hotel rooms, and that’s exactly what makes it work so well. My room — well, it was really more of a studio — had everything I actually needed rather than everything hotels think you need. The kitchen setup was surprisingly functional (I mean, you can actually cook a proper meal here), and the design strikes that perfect balance between modern comfort and Italian style. The space feels lived-in rather than sterile, if that makes sense.

Daily Life Here

There’s no traditional restaurant downstairs, but honestly, that’s not what this place is about. The neighborhood has some fantastic local spots — I discovered this little bakery two blocks away that became my morning ritual. What I appreciated most was the flexibility; some days I’d grab breakfast out, other days I’d make coffee in my own space and take my time getting ready. The staff is helpful without being hovering, and they clearly know the area well enough to point you toward the good stuff.

Why Guests Love It

Look, if you’re expecting pool service and nightly turndown chocolates, this isn’t your place. But if you want to feel like you’re actually staying in Milan rather than just visiting it, PrimoPiano hits the mark perfectly. The parking situation is manageable (which, let’s face it, is saying something in Milan), and the whole setup gives you that rare combination of independence and support. I found myself extending my stay by two days — not because I had to, but because I genuinely didn’t want to leave the routine I’d settled into here.

  Excellent location. Apartment was spotlessly clean. Nice balcony. The apartment is fully equipped for cooking, laundry, and ironing, and includes a fridge and a dishwasher.
  
  What could be improved: In flat B, the bed was a sofa rather than a proper bed, so it wasn’t the most comfortable. The walls are quite thin, and you can hear the neighbours, but I noticed that this is general issue in Italy. It would also be nice if the hosts provided at least some coffee and cooking oil. However, these things did not affect my stay, and I really enjoyed staying at Primo Piano.

  The apartment was perfect for our needs. A good base for a short trip to Milan. Good location. It was clean, it was quiet. Loved the bar next door too!
  
  What could be improved: The only issue was there was no car parking outside, so had to use a nearby carpark which was €30 per 24 hours.
  What would improve the apartment would be a 2nd TV in the bedroom.
  And we found that the plug sockets next to the bed did not work with our plugs to charge our phones. So had to use the one next to the bedroom door.
  But these are only small issues.

  the room had everything i needed. room was tidy, bed was comfy.
  
  What could be improved: In order to check-in to this place, you need to upload a photo of your passport, enter your address, date of birth into a different server other than Booking.com. It is time consuming and irritating and you will not have access to the codes to enter the apartment unless you do it. If this is ok with you, fine. If I had known this, I would not have booked. I do not know where I have posted my most sensitive data and I feel really uncomfortable about it.
  You will receive a lot of emails from this place and it is a cut and paste to their customers, long and unnecessary. I was not happy at all with the amount of non-personal communication there was. being bombarded with the same email daily is not a good use of my time.

  Really nice and clean apartment. We spent two nights and there is everything what you need.
  The check-in is self-contained and we received full and clear instructions from the hosts via email.
  Very nice neighborhood. Тhere are caffes, markets and stores near to the apartment.
  Around 45 minutes walking distance from the Central station and 35-40 minutes away from the Duomo of Milan.

  Very user friendly entrance to the accommodation; you’ll get your keys from a locker. The flat consists of 2 rooms, one with a bathroom and one with a kitchen. There is a small dining table as well. What I liked is, there was everything we might need, from scissors to ironing board and iron, plug converters, kettle, glasses and plates, cleaning soaps, shampoos, everything. The place was very tidy and clean when we arrived.
  
  The balcony faces a very quiet and courtyard, but not much to see.
  
  The location is at the beginning of Chinatown, so you can only find Chinese to eat to north and east. The place is walking distance from Piazza Sempione, so lots of options there. The trams stations are close by so public transport is easy to use.
  
  There is a fairly good Wifi in the flat, but the reception is a bit tricky in the balcony and the other room. The wifi stopped working on our last day, but they said it’s service provider related. We already had bought an eSim, so we changed to our phone hotspot. eSim is still recommended as you would need internet outside as well.
  
  All in all, I think it was a very good deal for the money we paid. Very satisfied.
  
  What could be improved: Wifi reception was spotty, and stopped working on the last day.
  
  The pullout couch on the main room was not very comfortable.
