The building itself has that classic Milanese charm, and honestly, the name gives it away: “primo piano” means first floor in Italian, which is exactly where you’ll find yourself settled.

Location & Getting Around

Here’s what I love about Via Edolo — it’s this quiet residential street that’s literally a five-minute walk from Milano Centrale, but you’d never know you’re so close to all that chaos. You know what’s great? You can actually sleep here without hearing train announcements all night. The Porta Garibaldi area is just a short metro ride away, and if you’re heading to the Navigli for dinner, it’s super straightforward from this spot.

The Space

The room I stayed in had this wonderful lived-in feeling — think clean lines mixed with warm touches that actually make sense. There’s a small kitchenette setup (nothing fancy, but perfect for morning coffee or storing those amazing Italian pastries you’ll inevitably buy). The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom was compact but well-designed. What struck me most was how they managed to make everything feel spacious despite the typical Milan-sized quarters.

Neighborhood Life

Walking around this area, you’ll notice it’s where actual Milanese people live and work — not just tourists rushing between landmarks. There’s this little restaurant around the corner that serves incredible risotto (the owner doesn’t speak much English, but the food speaks for itself), and a few blocks down you’ll find a proper Italian parking situation if you’re brave enough to drive in Milan. The morning routine here involves watching locals grab their espresso standing up at the corner bar — it’s pretty authentic stuff.

  What could be improved: Good facilities, however bathroom was an unusual layout and it was a shame there was only 1 mirror in the bathroom, it would be good to have a full length mirror in the main bedroom as well.
