Proletarian Apartment Overview
First Impressions
Walking up to Proletarian Apartment on Via dei Transiti, I’ll be honest — the name had me curious, but the reality is much more charming than you’d expect. This four-star place sits in a quiet residential street that feels authentically Milanese, away from the tourist crowds but still incredibly well-connected. The building itself has that understated Italian elegance, and you know what? Sometimes the best places are the ones that don’t try too hard to impress you from the street.
Location That Actually Works
Here’s what I love about this spot in Milan — you’re positioned perfectly between the city center and some genuinely local neighborhoods. The Porta Garibaldi area is just a short metro ride away, but honestly, I found myself walking more than I expected because the streets around here are so pleasant. There’s a reason couples rate this place so highly; it’s got that romantic, residential vibe where you can duck into a corner café and feel like you’ve discovered something special. The recent guests weren’t kidding when they highlighted the location — it’s one of those areas where you stumble upon the kind of trattorias that locals actually frequent.
The Space Itself
The apartment setup here is what really sets this place apart from your typical hotel experience. You get a proper living space with a functional kitchen — and I mean actually functional, not just a mini-fridge and a prayer. The room feels more like staying at a well-appointed friend’s place than a sterile hotel, which explains why it scores so well with couples. There’s enough space to spread out, and the furnishings strike that perfect balance between modern comfort and Italian style. Actually, the whole setup makes you want to hit the local markets and cook something together, which is half the fun of staying somewhere like this.
The Neighborhood Experience
What struck me most was how this area comes alive in the evenings — not with tourist crowds, but with actual Milanese life. You’ll find yourself walking past aperitivo spots where locals gather after work, and there’s this wonderful sense of stumbling into real Milan rather than the postcard version. The public transport connections are solid (the metro isn’t far), but I actually preferred exploring on foot. There’s something about these residential streets that makes you slow down and notice details — the way light hits the building facades, the small shops tucked into ground floors, the rhythm of daily life that feels so different from the fashion district bustle.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it doesn’t try to be everything to everyone — it’s designed for people who want to experience Milan like they live here, even if it’s just for a few days. The combination of that authentic neighborhood feel with genuinely comfortable accommodations hits a sweet spot that’s harder to find than you’d think. Couples especially seem to get it; there’s something about having your own space in a real residential area that makes the whole trip feel more intimate and less like you’re just checking boxes on a tourist itinerary. Plus, with an 8.5 rating, you know other travelers have figured out what makes this place special too.

Very good – Aliaksandra from Poland – 23 November 2025 (8/10)

What could be improved: Cleanliness. Floor was still dirty and bad sheets had some hair upon initial inspection.Exceptional – James from Italy – 16 October 2025 (10/10)
Very unique place! I was a bit worried at first because of the appearance of the building, but once inside, it felt very calm and welcoming. I even got to join what I think was a birthday party 🙂 Thanks for the beer!
What could be improved: The common areas of the building could have been cleaner, but the apartment was absolutely spotless. So it's ok…
Probably not the best place if you’re not a fan of left-wing or Antifa vibesSoggiorno piacevole – Anonymous from Italy – 29 September 2025 (10/10)
