Residenza Castello Sforzesco – Milano Overview
First Impressions
Residenza Castello Sforzesco – Milano sits right where you want to be in Milan — literally steps from the famous Sforza Castle. When I first walked up to this three-star place on Largo Cairoli, I was honestly surprised by how elegant the entrance looked. It’s not flashy, but there’s something really appealing about the classic Milanese building it occupies.
Location That Actually Matters
You know what’s great about staying here? You can walk to the Duomo in about ten minutes, but you’re not dealing with all the tourist chaos right outside your door. The Cairoli metro station is basically around the corner, which I used constantly to get around the city. Plus, there’s this lovely stretch toward Brera that makes for perfect evening strolls — something you’d miss if you stayed in the more obvious hotel districts.
The Room Experience
My room was smaller than what you’d get in a chain hotel, but it felt authentically Italian in the best way. The high ceilings and original architectural details made up for the compact size. Actually, the bathroom was surprisingly modern — I mean, they’ve clearly renovated recently while keeping the building’s character intact. The air conditioning worked well during my summer visit, which honestly can’t be taken for granted in older Milan buildings.
Practical Touches
There’s no on-site restaurant, but that didn’t bother me at all since you’re surrounded by amazing local spots. The staff gave me excellent recommendations that felt genuine, not like they were getting kickbacks. What I appreciated was how quiet it stayed at night — the windows are well-insulated, so even though you’re in the city center, you can actually sleep. They also helped arrange airport transfers, which saved me from figuring out early morning transport logistics.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it gives you that authentic Milan experience without breaking the bank. You’re staying in a real Milanese neighborhood where locals actually live and work, not some tourist bubble. The combination of the prime location, reasonable rates, and staff who genuinely seem to care about your stay makes it feel like you’ve found something special. I’d definitely book here again — it’s become my go-to spot when I need to be in central Milan for a few days.

Exceptional – Yasso from Lebanon – 11 November 2025 (10/10)

What could be improved: bedrooms should be renovatedGreat location and good facilities – Vivien from Australia – 2 July 2025 (8/10)
What could be improved: Fans for each room with beds would have helped make a more comfortable stay especially trying to sleep, the apartment was very hot
Very good – Kojadinovic from United States – 23 June 2025 (8/10)
Location was excellent. The apartment was spacious enough for a group of 6.
The street was quiet and the bed in the main bedroom was comfortable.
What could be improved: The responsiveness to our questions was slow or scarce. The AC in one of the bedrooms was not working. Necessities such as: paper towels, kitchen towels or sponges, sugar for coffee were not there. The building entrance door was not working a few times, we couldn’t get in. Luckily, someone was always in the apartment so they would come downstairs and let us in.
The other 4 beds were all in one room, pull out twin beds, they make squeaky noise.Convinient location – Mariano from Australia – 28 April 2025 (9/10)
Great location, walking distance to the Duomo.
The apartment complex is very quiet considering the location. The rooms were huge and as described.
What could be improved: The access key could be improved.Great location, good size and very cozy. – Ryan from United Kingdom – 24 April 2025 (10/10)

If You would like to stay in Milan for long weekend and do not rent a car, it is the best option! – Priit from Estonia – 13 April 2025 (9/10)
Location was the best in Milan.
What could be improved: No parking option, but this was known before, therefore no worries.Beautiful, clean, spacious and secure apartment in excellent location. – Alison from Australia – 25 January 2025 (10/10)
Large, clean, feels like home, and a great location.
Great location, not so great communication with host – Joana from Portugal – 23 October 2024 (7/10)
Great location! Nice apartment, corresponds to the pictures and description. Good value for money.
The cafe on the street over has very friendly staff, pay them a visit if you stay here!
What could be improved: The check in was not that easy, we struggled with the automatic door lock the first few times.
The host's communication was not very friendly, pre check in and during the stay. I can fully understand that hosting is a business to them and I can imagine they might have had issues with guests in the past, but that is no excuse to address future / current guests in an somewhat aggressive way: a question most of the times is just a question or request for help, it is not a demand or complaint.Superb – Bangguo from Sweden – 16 August 2024 (9/10)
Good location, close to the Metro station.
Nice and clean apartment.
Easy to check-in.
What could be improved: Too many stairs from the building door to the apartment door especially when traveling heavy luggage.Great apartment in fantastic location, but with some organisational issues – Qbin from Poland – 10 June 2024 (8/10)
Apartment is in a very good, central location, just next to Castello Sforzesco and Via Dante, close to Duomo di Milano. Multiple shops, cafes, restaurants and bars around. It was well equipped, clean and spacious. I would give it 9/10, but unforunately there were some oranisational issues. Nevertheless, I can recommed it and would book it again.
What could be improved: There were some oranisational issues, which costed us some time of our short stay. First and foremost, we had problem with accessing the apartment. There is a full automation access system, i.e. you can access it using application on your mobile, but the access instructions weren't complete, e.g. it was missing crucial information how to open building's main entrance door. What's more, after contacting the stuff they weren't able to help right away, if fact I had to speak to 3 different persons before I was given proper procedure. Here it goes: before you click "building door" in the application, on the entry phone you need to dial 36 – bell – wait for the signal, and only then the door will open. The part with dialing apartment number was not given at all. In fact, the location of the apartment within the building was not given either, while there are several sections of the building (I will help you: apartment location is section D, 1st floor).
Another issue was, that after we have finally managed to access the apartment, we found out that fresh towels were missing (we only found dirty ones in the laundry basket). After contacting the stuff they were delivered within 20 or 30 minutes.
And the last important tip – don't switch off WiFi router. The apartment access system depends on it, and unfortunately someone from our group unplugged it to charge his mobile phone and we lost access to the apartment from outside (luckily, one of was was still inside…).
