Sant’Ambrogio Overview
First Impressions
Sant’Ambrogio sits right in the heart of Milan on Via Cesare Correnti, and honestly, the location alone makes it worth considering. This three-star spot doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s a straightforward, comfortable hotel that gets the basics right. The building has that classic Milanese charm you’d expect in this part of the city centre, and you’ll appreciate how quiet it is despite being so central.
Location & Getting Around
You know what I love about staying here? You’re literally minutes from Sant’Ambrogio Basilica (hence the name), and the Navigli district is just a short walk away. The metro connections are excellent — Cadorna station is close by, which means you can reach the Duomo in about ten minutes or catch the Malpensa Express if you’re flying out. I mean, you could easily walk to most of Milan’s main attractions from here, but having those transport links makes life easier.
The Room Experience
The rooms are what you’d expect from a solid three-star — clean, functional, and surprisingly quiet for such a central location. My room faced the courtyard, which meant no street noise but also limited natural light. The beds are comfortable enough, and there’s decent storage space. Don’t expect design hotel aesthetics, but everything works properly and the Wi-Fi is reliable (which matters more than fancy wallpaper, honestly).
Practical Touches
What actually impressed me was how smoothly everything runs here. The staff know their neighborhood well — they’ll give you proper directions instead of just pointing vaguely down the street. There’s no fancy restaurant on site, but you’re in Milan, so that’s hardly a problem. The breakfast is continental-style and gets the job done, though I found myself grabbing cappuccino at the café around the corner more often than not.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Sant’Ambrogio isn’t going to win any design awards, but it delivers exactly what most travelers actually need — a clean, comfortable base in an excellent location without breaking the bank. The 7.4 rating reflects this perfectly: it’s good, solid, and reliable. If you’re the type who spends most of your time exploring the city anyway, this place makes perfect sense. You’ll save money compared to the fancier hotels nearby, and you’ll still be able to walk to aperitivo in Navigli or shopping in the Quadrilatero without dealing with complicated transport connections.
Locals suggest to book apartments in Milan around Porta Romana for vintage markets, trattoria spots, and tree-lined avenues.

Reviews of Sant’Ambrogio
I can recommend ! – Fajardo from France – 17 November 2025 (7/10)
Its near to all shops, restaurants and transportation that makes us easily visiting Milan .
And the host Luciana very kind and approachable .
What could be improved: Only the window we can’t closed well the shatter and no coffee maker !Très bien placé au centre, très confortable mais sans ascenseur, c’est difficile de monter 4 étages quand on est fatigué – Yasmine from Switzerland – 14 July 2025 (8/10)
L’emplacement
What could be improved: 4e étage sans ascenseurGreat value and close to all locations. – Elgars from Latvia – 3 March 2025 (10/10)
Incredible location and very comfortable apartment.
What could be improved: More than one set of keys could be useful. The owner was helpful. Amazing location! But the apartment is in a poor condition. – Rikke from Denmark – 28 April 2024 (3/10)
The loaction was great and the owner was super helpful.
What could be improved: The apartment was in a poor condition. The taps were very loose, you can’t lock the door from the inside in a normal way and the alternative solution of a lock was loose, which felt a bit unsafe. The matress were very hard to sleep on. The apartment was also very cold because of bad weather in milan and the heathers didn’t work. The place also needed at thorough cleaning. It was clear that the apartment was worn and had a lot of signs of being rented out, and not so much maintenance, a shame because the location was great and the owner was super helpful.Pleasant – Gergely from Hungary – 25 March 2024 (6/10)
It is in the city center, close to the Doumo, and to other good locations!
I cant say more positive things…
What could be improved: The apartment is very undemanding, some of the features are very poor like the taps and the door lock, also the beds are very uncomfortable and crackling…
The flat is very noisy due to the street, even in the night.
It is on the 4th floor, so you need to climb 🙂
On the pictures it looks better….Good location is all I can say – Phiroze from India – 27 November 2023 (7/10)
Well kept two bedroom apartment
What could be improved: The approach to reach the apartment via a maze of steps going up and downI recommend this apartment to everyone who wants to visit Milan. – Dariusz from Poland – 13 November 2023 (9/10)
Very good contact with the host. The apartment is located very close to the city center and many attractions worth visiting in Milan. There are many shops, cafes and restaurants nearby, there is something for everyone.
Good – Julia from Australia – 30 June 2023 (7/10)
Proximity
What could be improved: It was very hot in Milan so has to have windows open, the noise was VERY much intrusive. As its location is on a Main Street. Trams start very early. Some fans would have been good. Plus don’t remember reading anything about it being on the fourth floor. That was hard with luggagethe apartment was pleasant enough but would not recommend for those that have a lot of luggage or have difficulty climbi – Vuong from Australia – 12 June 2023 (7/10)
location – walkable distance to duomo and main shopping
What could be improved: property located on the 4th floor and have to climb 8 levels of steps to get to the apartment.
there was only 1 set of keys available therefore a bit inconvenient if more than 2 persons staying at the apartment. if one person wanted to go back, another person had to walk up the 8 flights of stairs so that they can take the keys.
no aircon or fan available for second room.Good location, safe and clean. However there were no elevator – Maymu from Saudi Arabia – 2 June 2023 (8/10)
the owner was very helpful
What could be improved: no elevator
