First Impressions

Solari Apartment sits tucked away on a quiet side street in the Navigli district, and honestly, you might walk past it if you’re not paying attention. The entrance is understated — just a simple door on Via Valparaiso — but that’s actually part of its charm. This three-star apartment feels more like staying at a friend’s place than a typical hotel, which is exactly what I was hoping for when I booked it.

The Navigli Experience

You know what’s great about this location? You’re right in the heart of Milan’s most vibrant neighborhood without being on one of those tourist-packed main streets. The Navigli canals are literally a two-minute walk away, and I mean the real deal — not some sanitized version. You’ll hear the buzz of aperitivo crowds spilling out of bars in the evening, but the apartment itself stays surprisingly quiet since it’s set back from the action.

The Space

The room — well, it’s really more of a small apartment — has this lived-in feel that I actually loved. There’s a compact kitchen area with everything you need if you want to grab groceries from the local market and cook something simple. The bed was comfortable enough, and the bathroom, while not huge, had good water pressure (which honestly matters more than fancy marble when you’re dealing with Milan’s summer heat).

Local Insights

Here’s something the guidebooks won’t tell you: the best coffee in the neighborhood is at the tiny bar just around the corner — not the trendy place everyone posts on Instagram. The owner, an older gentleman who’s been there forever, makes a perfect cappuccino and charges about half what you’d pay near the Duomo. Also, if you’re planning to explore the canals at night, stick to the well-lit areas closer to Porta Genova — it gets a bit sketchy further out.

Why Guests Love It

Look, this isn’t going to be the most polished place you’ve ever stayed, but that’s sort of the point. You get authentic Milan life without the tourist markup, and you’re perfectly positioned to experience the Navigli like locals do. The metro connection to the center is solid (about 15 minutes to reach the main sights), and there’s decent parking nearby if you’re brave enough to drive in Milan. For the price point, it’s honestly hard to beat if you want character over luxury.

  We stayed in these apartments for three days and absolutely loved everything! The place is very clean, cozy, and well-equipped — there is everything you might need, from all the kitchenware to modern, fully working appliances. Everything is neat and thoughtfully arranged, which makes you feel comfortable from the first moment.
  
  The hosts are incredibly friendly and welcoming. They were always in touch, responded very quickly, and helped with every question we had — even gave great local recommendations and were always willing to assist.
  
  The location is perfect: a new, modern residential complex with shops, metro stations, and public transport nearby. It’s very easy to reach the city center, which makes it convenient for exploring Milan.
  
  Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely choose these apartments again. Highly recommended! 🌿

  We had a great stay at Konran’s property. The property was spacious enough for our large group and was perfectly located being close to lots of restaurants and shops. A taxi to the city centre was around 10/15 minutes.

  The communication with the host was perfect, they gave us many tips for places to visit in Milano. The furniture was very modern and the apartment was clean. It was also close to the underground station

  The apartment was basic and had all basic stuff that could be needed. The hosts were very responsive and gave detailed directions for check in. Enough towels were provided and the apartment was clean
  
  What could be improved: Since it was an apartment, would have appreciated the presence of some tea bags, although coffee was present. A handsoap was also needed. The shower head could not be fixed at a definite height. It was always coming down and needs fixing. The host should have mentioned that construction was underway as it was very noisy.

  It was great for my small family, with an excellent location near metro and tram stops as well as a nice park. I really appreciated the responsiveness of the owners. I highly recommend!
  
  What could be improved: There was a lot of construction taking place in and outside of the building, but it was OK since we spent most of our time outside the apartment. Had trouble getting keys out of the lockbox, but the owners were very helpful and understanding in addressing the issue.

  Great AC and location. Newly renovated and had everything you needed. Would book again.
  
  What could be improved: We didn’t know there would be construction outside and that the windows would be entirely covered. No natural light, at least for our stay. Might be better next time. Some dirty marks on the walls.

  Great communication with the hosts! The place is close to Metro, Carrefour Express, fresh fruit/veg market (Saturdays) and some nice restaurants which are much cheaper compared to touristy areas of Milan. Apartment was clean and easy to find.
  
  What could be improved: The place could use a kettle/coffee machine/iron but other than that everything was nice 🙂
