STAR RIBBON Overview
First Impressions
Walking into STAR RIBBON on the seventh floor of this Milan building, you get that immediate sense that someone actually thought about the design here. The elevator ride up gives you a moment to appreciate that you’re staying in the Sempione district — honestly, one of the better neighborhoods if you want to feel like you’re living in Milan rather than just visiting it. The lobby isn’t trying too hard to impress, which I actually appreciate in a four-star place.
The Neighborhood Reality
Via Giovanni Battista Fauchè might sound intimidating to pronounce, but the location is pretty solid. You’re close enough to the Sempione Park that morning jogs actually make sense, and the Porta Garibaldi area is just a reasonable walk away. What I really like is that you’re not stuck in the tourist bubble — there are actual Milanese people going about their daily lives around here. The metro connections work well enough, though you know what, sometimes I just walked because the neighborhood itself is worth exploring.
Room Experience
The room setup is where STAR RIBBON shows its personality. Nothing groundbreaking, but they’ve clearly put thought into the details that matter when you’re actually living there for a few days. The beds are comfortable in that satisfying way where you don’t wake up thinking about the mattress — either positively or negatively. Views vary depending on which side you’re on, but being on the seventh floor means you’re getting some decent sight lines over Milan’s rooftops either way.
Daily Operations
The staff runs things efficiently without being overly formal about it, which fits the vibe of the place. There’s a restaurant that handles the basics well — I mean, you’re in Milan, so you’ll probably want to explore the local dining scene anyway. What’s practical is that they understand travelers’ schedules, so if you need something sorted out or recommendations that go beyond the obvious tourist spots, they’re usually helpful.
Why Guests Love It
Here’s what works: STAR RIBBON gives you a genuine Milan experience without the premium pricing of the central hotels or the isolation of the airport properties. The Sempione location means you’re connected to the city’s rhythm, and the building’s seventh-floor position gives you just enough separation from street noise to actually sleep well. It’s the kind of place where the 8.3 rating makes sense — solid execution across the board without any major surprises, positive or negative.

Reviews of STAR RIBBON
Very good – Steph from Germany – 20 November 2025 (9/10)
Very good location with nearby train and bus stops, near centre
What could be improved: Everything was fine!Very good – Megan from New Zealand – 26 August 2025 (8/10)
Great room, very clean and had a great big TV which we were able to connect to our phone to play movies on. AC worked really well.
What could be improved: There were some open wires through the ceiling above the shower. The elevator only worked when the inner doors were closed which most of the time it wasn’t due to other people in the block not closing it properly- not ideal when we were on the 6th floor.Very good – Jen from Spain – 9 August 2025 (8/10)
The place was nice. Close to the suoermarket and in the city. Very affordable and nice stuff.
What could be improved: When we areived at the hotel. The trash in the bathroom was full, maybe they forgot to throw it. And the 2nd day they took it but they didnt clean. I dont know if its in the rules that no one will clean there. We usually make our bed when we are leaving except the bathroom. But other that that we enjoyed staying there.Great location for exploring Milano – Liana from Romania – 21 July 2025 (8/10)
The location is perfect, close to subway and Sempione. The neighborhood is quiet and pleasant. The terrace of the apartment was also nice.
What could be improved: While the rooms are mostly nicely renovated, there are some improvements that can still be done, like for example the terrace cover which was half broken or the terrace door handle which came off in my hand when i tried opening the door.Very good – Siobhan from Ireland – 20 July 2025 (8/10)
Good location. Clean bedroom although sparce furniture.
What could be improved: We had booked a 1 bedroom apartment on top floor with balcony and kitchen facilities but we were given a twin room ensuite on 2nd floor. Only had a kettle with no cups provided & a small mini fridge. Not what Booking.com had listed as facilities.Superb – Said from Bosnia and Herzegovina – 13 July 2025 (9/10)
Everything was great. Nice, clean and quiet.
What could be improved: The elevator stopped working at some point and we were at the 6th floor.A spacious and clean stay in an ideal location. – Musa from Belgium – 8 July 2025 (9/10)
The place was clean and spacious as well. I liked that there was a large supermarket nearby, and I think there were local markets set up on Saturdays. The neighbourhood was calm and pleasant, which I appreciated — especially since it was also close to San Siro, for the football match.
What could be improved: I didn’t really have any major negative points — which is also reflected in the score I gave. Maybe just a small thing: we had some trouble opening the front door of the apartment.Good – Miloslav from Czech Republic – 22 May 2025 (7/10)
Good location, clean room.
What could be improved: Too noisy street from 6am and noisy aircondition.Great location, kind and helpful staff – Rhedyn from Australia – 10 May 2025 (9/10)
Exactly as pictured, room is very clean and the beds are very comfortable. USB and wall plugs available on either side of the beds which is excellent for charging phones. Great location, easy to access metro and trams, or ~1 hour casual walk to major attractions like the Palace and the Duomo. Very nice view from the balcony, and on Saturday while we were there, a street market was happening right outside the doors which was a wonderful surprise. Some very nice bars, resturants and cafes also walking distance nearby. Staff very helpful and easy to contact (very quick reply via whatsapp) and the check in/ check out process was very smooth thanks to them.
What could be improved: The shower does not drain quickly, so be careful not to take excessive showers as the water may spill onto the floor. Street noise is a little loud, but with some ear plugs I slept very well.Recommend – Lukas from Lithuania – 8 May 2025 (9/10)
Very clean, good location, cosy neigbourhood. Everything was as expected, had a good time and enjoyed our stay!
What could be improved: Check-in is until 10:00 pm, after that, no one is available, so you'll come after 10pm you need to arrange thqt before coming.
