First Impressions

The Sweett – Ciovasso sits on a quiet side street in Milan‘s city center, and honestly, I almost walked past it at first. It’s one of those understated buildings that doesn’t scream “hotel” from the outside — which, in a city like Milan, can actually be a good thing. The entrance feels more like stepping into a modern apartment building than a traditional three-star hotel, and that’s exactly the vibe they’re going for.

The Apartment Experience

What you’re getting here isn’t really a hotel room in the traditional sense — it’s more like borrowing someone’s well-designed apartment for a few days. The space I stayed in had this clean, minimalist aesthetic that feels very Milanese without being cold. The kitchen setup was surprisingly functional too, with a proper stovetop and enough counter space to actually cook something if you pick up ingredients from the markets nearby.

Location & Getting Around

Via Ciovasso is tucked away enough that you won’t hear traffic all night, but you’re still a comfortable walk from the Duomo and all the main shopping areas. I mean, you can reach Porta Garibaldi station in about fifteen minutes on foot, which connects you to pretty much anywhere you need to go. The neighborhood has this residential feel during the day — you’ll see locals walking their dogs and grabbing coffee at the corner bars, not just tourists with maps.

What Works (And What Doesn’t)

The design is definitely the standout here — everything feels thoughtfully chosen rather than just functional. The lighting is actually good enough to read by, and there’s decent storage space, which matters when you’re staying more than a night or two. On the flip side, don’t expect daily housekeeping or a front desk that’s staffed around the clock — this is more of a self-service situation once you’re checked in.

Why Guests Love It

You know what really makes this place work? It gives you that “living in Milan” feeling without the hassle of actually renting an apartment. The price point is reasonable for what you get — especially considering you’re in the city center with your own cooking facilities. It’s perfect for travelers who want some independence and don’t need a concierge holding their hand. Plus, there’s something satisfying about making your morning coffee in your own kitchenette while planning your day, rather than rushing down to a crowded hotel breakfast room.

  Location is great. It is a small street in Brera and you can reach everything by feet within shortest time.
  
  What could be improved: Furniture worn and partly broken. The bed in the sleeping room number 2 was broken and the mattress was broken also impossible to find a sleep.
  Power outage – there has been a power outage in the building and more than 50% of the time there has been no power in the flat, which meant no air-conditioning, no fridge, no light, no warm water,…even if the problem has potentially not been on the flat providers side, the way that the service hotline has been dealing with the problem has not been satisfactory at all. Also no compensation has been offered.

  The location was excellent. The apartment was very spacious. It was nice to have two bathrooms. There were lots of pillows.
  
  What could be improved: The kitchen could be better equipped as the pots and pans were incredibly small. Enough to fry eggs and that’s about it.

  Location is nice, it has two full sized bedroom and a large sitting room.
  
  What could be improved: All the fitting, furniture and closets are very old and over used, with the unclean smell in the closets. Although it was quite clean, the whole apartment has unclean / smelly feel because of it age. Also, there is no elevator , so three suitcases are a lot of work.

  The apartment was absolutely perfect for our family of 6.
  It was located in the cutest area of Berea. There were so many great local restaurants and shops nearby. The cobblestone streets were so quaint, and it was far from the hustle and bustle of the center of Milan, but close enough that we could walk within 10 minutes to just about anywhere!
