The perfect studio apt in Città Studi I Via Saldini Overview
First Impressions
The perfect studio apt in Città Studi I Via Saldini sits on a quiet residential street that honestly feels more like you’re staying at a friend’s place than in typical tourist accommodation. The building itself has that classic Milanese charm — you know, the kind with old-world details but everything actually works. When I first walked up Via Cesare Saldini, I was struck by how genuinely local the neighborhood felt, which is exactly what you want when you’re trying to experience Milan beyond the obvious spots.
The Space
This three-star studio is surprisingly well thought out — I mean, whoever designed this actually understands how people live. The room manages to feel spacious despite being compact, and there’s a proper kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just decorative like some places). The layout flows naturally from sleeping area to workspace to cooking zone, and honestly, after staying in cramped hotel rooms, having your own little apartment feels pretty liberating.
Location & Neighborhood
Città Studi is one of those neighborhoods that locals love but tourists often miss, and that’s exactly why it works so well. You’re surrounded by university students and young professionals, which means great coffee shops, affordable eateries, and a genuine energy that feels authentic. The area around Via Saldini has this lived-in quality — tree-lined streets, neighborhood markets, and the kind of places where you can actually practice your Italian without feeling self-conscious.
Getting Around
What I really appreciated was how connected this spot is without being in the chaos of central Milan. You can walk to Lambrate station in about ten minutes, and from there you’re genuinely well-positioned to explore the city. The metro connections get you to the Duomo in maybe twenty-five minutes, but honestly, some of my favorite discoveries happened just wandering the local streets. There’s decent street parking if you’re driving, though like anywhere in Milan, it requires a bit of patience.
Why Guests Love It
This place works because it strikes that sweet spot between independence and affordability that’s hard to find in Milan. You get your own space, you can cook simple meals, and you’re living in a real neighborhood rather than a tourist bubble. The 7.5 rating makes sense — it’s not trying to be fancy, but everything you need is there and it actually functions well. For travelers who want to experience Milan like a temporary resident rather than just checking off landmarks, this studio delivers exactly what it promises.

Reviews of The perfect studio apt in Città Studi I Via Saldini
Pleasant – Marija from Serbia – 24 April 2025 (6/10)
The location is quite good. The part of the city is quiet and safe. Good transport connections.
What could be improved: The cleanliness of the apartment is debatable. The bed in the apartment is a folding sofa, which is in very poor condition. The key to the apartment is picked up about 3 km from the apartment itself in another building, so keep that in mind when booking. The staff is quite unfriendly, and if you need something, you will get an answer at a time convenient for them. We were greeted by a rather untidy apartment, and upon request for additional cleaning, we received only one pillowcase. The staff in charge of the apartment responds to each comment with an additional justification rather than solving the existing problem. There are broken, dirty dishes in the kitchen that are not for use. It is recommended that you find another option for accommodation, because for the same or less money you can get a better service.I would recommend this apartment for anyone, who is looking for a fair-priced place while travelling – Gergő from Hungary – 7 July 2024 (8/10)
Overall the area where the apartment is located was quiet and peaceful, which was nice since after a long day all we wanted to do is rest. The apartment delivered that for us. There are also some shops located nearby, so getting groceries was easy. The apartment itself is cozy and modern, the air conditioner was very useful.
The apartment is reachable with all sorts of public transportation, which is great (bus, metro, tram).
(Bus line: 61, Metro: M4, Tram nr. 5)
Getting the keys is easy, located in a nearby grocery shop called "Carrefour express". (took max. 5 minutes of our time)
On the uploaded picture you can see the entrance, (ground floor right side), the door itself is also very safe.
What could be improved: Unfortunately the Metro line "M4" was under construction, when we were there, it was quite confusing because we could buy tickets for it but we couldn't use it.
As I've said the area is overall quiet, but there were some construction works, which caused some loud noises.
For us it was not a problem, but you can only see the street from the view of the windows. It was lovely, definitely would return. – Lucy from United Kingdom – 2 July 2024 (8/10)
It was very easy to collect the keys. As we arrived later than the picking up of the keys time we had to pay extra however the man was lovely and super helpful as he showed us the apartment and was there to answer any questions we had.
What could be improved: The key collection times are only within a short window, therefore we did have to pay an additional 40 euros (which we were unaware of). However, the man was there when we arrived and was very helpful!Pleasant – Atlantis from Greece – 19 October 2023 (6/10)
The location which was close to tram and bus stops
What could be improved: the bed was very uncomfortable and the facilities very scarce and basicGood – Julie from Ukraine – 19 September 2023 (7/10)
Great location and transport connection. The apartment has everything you need for a short stay. The kitchen is well equipped. Lots of storage. The reception team is friendly and responsive.
What could be improved: The bed was quite squicky and the pillows too hard. No kitchen towel was provided, and the provided dish washing sponge was very old 🙁
Not very convenient key pick-up.Good location, useful for storing luggage and sleeping. – Lauren from Australia – 12 September 2023 (7/10)
Easy to get to on the tram 5. A simple apartment with all amenities you need. Great for just sleeping and spending the day out exploring the city.
What could be improved: The rain shower head shot out water and the drain was blocked. The pillows were super thick, and then the other pillows were thin or very lumpy. My husband used a folded up duvet as a pillow. Was a nice stay for 2 day but would recommend for longer stays as it is far from the center – Selina from Germany – 5 July 2023 (7/10)
It was a nice and modern space which got everything needed for our short stay.
What could be improved: The check in was a bit difficult as you had to get the keys in an office near the train station and then had to go to the apartment afterwards.
The A/C could not be turned of as the remote wasn’t working and the space was quite a bit far away from city center ….Excellent – Elona from Albania – 14 March 2023 (10/10)
I would say everything was great!
The location is perfect too
What could be improved: NothingGood – Areti from Greece – 6 February 2023 (7/10)
It was a good stay overall. The apartment is very well equipped with all the necessities someone could need for a short, even a long stay. It was beautiful and comfortable as seen in pictures but not so clean, we found stain on the sheets.
Good location next to public transport.
What could be improved: The hostmate team were great and friendly people and very helpful with quick response in our messages.
However, I find unacceptable the policy of collecting the keys. It’s really inconvenient when you have already paid for a place to stay to have to pay extra amount just to bring you the key (!) or if you don’t want to pay you have to go to their office 3,5 km away from the exact place of the apartment. I arrived at midnight and fortunately my sister got earlier and got the keys from the office. If I was alone I had to pay 40 € in order to have the keys delivered at midnight. There are key holders with codes in every apartment I’ve stayed. The most convenient solution.Very good – Panayiotis from Greece – 8 January 2023 (8/10)
Excellent facilities, safe, quiet neighbourhood, next to a supermarket and tram station
What could be improved: Uncomfortable bed
