The Westin Palace, Milan Overview
First Impressions
The Westin Palace, Milan sits right on Piazza della Repubblica like it owns the place — and honestly, it kind of does. Walking up to this five-star beauty, you’re hit by that classic Italian grandeur mixed with modern luxury touches. The doormen actually remember your name after the first day, which is something you don’t expect even at this level.
Prime Position in Milan
Here’s what I love about the location — you’re literally steps from Porta Garibaldi and the Corso Buenos Aires shopping district, but you’re also perfectly positioned for the business crowd around Stazione Centrale. Milan can be tricky to navigate, but from here you can walk to the Quadrilatero della Moda in about 20 minutes, or just hop on the metro. The Repubblica metro stop is right there, which means you’re connected to everything without dealing with the chaos of staying directly in the centro storico.
The Room Experience
The room I stayed in faced the piazza, and I mean — the views are something else entirely. These aren’t your typical hotel windows either; they’re floor-to-ceiling affairs that make the space feel enormous. The Westin’s signature Heavenly Bed lives up to the hype, though the real winner is the marble bathroom with that deep soaking tub. You know what’s smart? They’ve got proper Italian coffee machines in every room, not those terrible pod things.
Dining and Amenities
The Casanova restaurant downstairs serves this incredible contemporary Italian menu — I actually ended up eating there three nights because the risotto was that good. The spa on the sixth floor is where you want to spend a rainy Milano afternoon; it’s got this zen-like atmosphere that completely blocks out the city noise. There’s also a fitness center that’s actually worth using, with proper equipment and those towels that smell like eucalyptus.
Why Guests Love It
What sets this place apart is how it balances luxury with genuine Italian hospitality. The concierge team doesn’t just hand you tourist maps — they’ll call ahead to that tiny trattoria in Brera you mentioned wanting to try. Parking is handled through valet service, which in Milan is basically essential unless you enjoy circling blocks for an hour. It’s the kind of hotel where business travelers feel productive and leisure guests feel pampered, which is harder to pull off than you’d think.

What could be improved: Old furnitureThoroughly enjoyed every moment we spent in the hotel. – Geoff from Australia – 10 August 2025 (9/10)
Beautiful room; exceptionally comfortable bed; front office staff very knowledgeable and helpful; location good in that it was in a very quiet area and within walking distance of Milan Central Station, however a 20 min walk to the action which we did not mind as we chase 15,000+ steps daily when on holidays. The terrace restaurant, Pan Evo was a real treat for our first evening in Milan.
