Ticinese Apartment Overview

First Impressions

Walking into Ticinese Apartment on Corso di Porta Ticinese feels like discovering a hidden gem tucked away in one of Milan’s most authentic neighborhoods. This three-star property doesn’t try to be something it’s not — it’s comfortable, well-located, and honestly, that’s exactly what you need when exploring the city. The building has that classic Milanese character you’d expect from this area, nothing too fancy but definitely charming in its own way.

Location & Neighborhood

You know what I love about staying here? You’re right in the heart of the Ticinese district, which means you’re surrounded by some of the city’s best aperitivo spots and local trattorias that tourists rarely find. The Navigli canals are literally a few minutes’ walk away — I mean, you can hear the evening buzz from the apartment windows. Plus, getting to the Duomo or shopping areas is super easy, but you’re far enough from the chaos to actually get some sleep at night.

The Space

The room setup is pretty practical, honestly. It’s not huge, but they’ve made smart use of the space with everything you actually need for a few days in Milan. The kitchenette is small but functional — perfect for making morning coffee or storing those amazing cheeses you’ll inevitably buy at the local markets. What I appreciated most was how quiet it stays despite being on a fairly busy street; the windows do their job well.

Local Flavor

Here’s the thing about this area that guidebooks don’t really capture — you’re staying where actual Milanese people hang out. There’s this fantastic little restaurant just around the corner that serves the kind of risotto that makes you question everything you thought you knew about rice. The morning walk to grab cornetti from the bakery down the street becomes part of your routine, and suddenly you feel less like a tourist and more like a temporary local.

Why Guests Love It

Look, Ticinese Apartment isn’t trying to compete with the big hotel chains, and that’s actually its strength. You get independence, a real neighborhood experience, and decent value for money in a city where accommodation costs can get pretty steep. The parking situation isn’t perfect (it’s Milan, after all), but public transport connections are solid, and honestly, walking everywhere is half the fun. It’s the kind of place that works well for travelers who want to experience Milan rather than just check off the major sights.

  • Good for the money you pay, perfect if you are planning to be out all day and need a place with the basic facilities to – Anonymous from United Kingdom – 27 May 2025 (7/10)

Easy to access and locate, building felt very safe aside from our last night when the main entrance door was left open by somebody using a plant pot, this made us nervous as we didn’t know who was accessing the property. Bathroom was great and clean.

What could be improved: We booked as a group of four and was only given one pillow on the sofa bed which was being used by two persons. However this was very quickly resolved by federico who couldn’t have been more helpful!

  • i will repeat it – Lana from Serbia – 31 January 2025 (10/10)

    Lokacija

What could be improved: Terrible experience – Avoid at all costs!

Unfortunately, we had an extremely bad experience with this accommodation. We booked and paid for the apartment in advance, but the host never sent us any instructions on how to enter. An hour before arrival (in the rain, with two small children!), we tried to contact him, but he did not respond. When he finally answered our call, he promised to send the instructions – but never did.

After multiple calls, he insisted that we message him via the Booking chat, which was not possible since the account was not ours. We were left stranded outside the building with no way to enter. We even sent him a picture of the building’s entrance, just asking him to confirm if we were at the right place – he refused to answer! In the end, a kind neighbor helped us get inside. After much effort, we finally managed to access the instructions on Booking, but even then, they were incomplete (they did not include how to enter the building!).

To make things worse, the apartment was very cold. The temperature controls were locked, and the heating from the air conditioner was not working. We felt completely deceived, as basic comfort was not provided.

Such negligence and lack of responsibility are unacceptable, especially when traveling with children. We expected at least basic communication and assistance, but the host was completely uninterested. We do not recommend this accommodation under any circumstances!

  • Excellent and cosy apartment – Diego from Argentina – 10 December 2024 (10/10)

Great place to stay with great places near to eat and drink.

  • Bad – Jovanoski from United States – 17 August 2024 (1/10)

It was so hot inside. AC was working very poorly. Lowest temperature that we can get was 30 C and that was in the living room where the ac fan was located pointed away from the bedroom making it very hard to sleep. The host was very responsive when we told them it was unbearable to sleep they told us we can sleep on the couch where the ac was located. It was very uncomfortable to be in apartment and even worse to sleep inside.
It really ruined our time in Milan.
It wasn’t clean either, the floor had hair and debris, the shower head was the color orange and the mirror on bathroom was very dirty.
You cannot use any closets because they were locked with big scary locks and the one dresser thats available was falling apart.
There was a smart TV located in the apartment and there was internet in the apartment however we couldn’t get access to play Netflix or get the internet to connect to TV.
