Urban Garden Lofts by Blue Velvet Livings Overview

First Impressions

Walking up to Urban Garden Lofts by Blue Velvet Livings in Milan’s Bicocca-Zara district, you immediately get that this isn’t your typical hotel. It’s tucked away on a quiet private street — Via Privata Giuseppe Ugolini — which honestly feels like discovering a hidden gem in what’s rapidly becoming one of Milan’s most interesting neighborhoods. The building itself has this modern, understated elegance that doesn’t scream for attention but definitely commands respect.

The Neighborhood Vibe

Bicocca-Zara is where Milan shows its contemporary side without losing its soul. You’re close to the Bicocca district with its universities and cultural spaces, but also just a metro ride away from the Duomo when you need your dose of classic Milan. The area has this great mix of locals going about their daily business and a younger crowd from the nearby universities. There are some solid restaurants within walking distance, and I actually found better coffee here than in some of the touristy central spots.

The Space Itself

These lofts really live up to the name — the room I stayed in had soaring ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows that made the space feel twice as big as it actually was. The design strikes this nice balance between industrial chic and homey comfort. You get a proper kitchenette that’s actually functional (not just for show), which is perfect when you want to grab groceries from the local markets and have breakfast at your own pace. The beds are seriously comfortable, and the whole place feels more like a stylish apartment than a hotel room.

Practical Details

The four-star rating feels spot-on — it’s polished and professional without being stuffy. Parking is available, which is honestly a godsend in Milan if you’re driving. The staff knows their stuff and can point you toward the best local spots rather than just handing you a generic tourist map. Metro connections are solid from here, so you can easily hop over to Porta Garibaldi or the fashion district when you want to dive into the Milan everyone expects.

Why Guests Love It

With a 9.4 rating, this place clearly gets something right, and I think it’s the combination of space, location, and that feeling of living like a local rather than just passing through. You get the independence of having your own place with the backup of hotel services when you need them. It’s particularly great for longer stays or if you’re traveling with someone and actually want room to breathe. The Bicocca area gives you a real taste of contemporary Milan life without the tourist crowds, but you’re never more than 20 minutes from the city center when you want to dive into the classic Milan experience.

To book a hotel in Milan during opera season, visitors plan ahead to balance La Scala performances with quiet Navigli canal strolls.

Reviews of Urban Garden Lofts by Blue Velvet Livings

  • A wonderful stay – Sofia from Greece – 18 November 2025 (10/10)

The room was very clean and big. The parking was very nice. The staff was very helpful in whatever we needed during our stay in Milano.

What could be improved: It was a bit far from the center of Milano

  • Exceptional – Darijo from Croatia – 8 November 2025 (10/10)

Everything was great. Very cooperative host. Apartments were very clean. 7 min walk to the metro station. Gelato on the way to metro station :). 2 min drive to a big grocery store with parking.

What could be improved: Weather was rainy during our stay. Some kind of door mat that is inside behind the door would be nice. Or some sort of plastic tray to put the wet shoes in.

  • Exceptional – Lukasz from Poland – 2 November 2025 (10/10)

Very cozy, clean and spacious place to stay. The host greeted us personally and after explaining everything gave us the keys. The place was located not so far from the metro station, from which there was 25–30 minutes to the city center. The beds were comfy, and we had everything we needed in the apartment. Thank you.

  • Exceptional – Marina from Serbia – 15 October 2025 (10/10)

Everything was fine, very clean, private parking.

What could be improved: The apartments have two skylights and it seems a little bit claustrophobic.

  • Very causy place but entrance was a challenge for me – Fahad from Saudi Arabia – 8 October 2025 (9/10)

    Modern

What could be improved: Location and the sofa 🥲

  • Very good – Daniel from Ireland – 7 October 2025 (8/10)

    Good location,friendly staff.

What could be improved: No kettle or toaster

  • Superb – Tom from Belgium – 1 October 2025 (9/10)

Very big, nice and luxurious apartment. Everything you need is available. Great location just outside of the city but perfectly reachable by bike or public transport. Very cosy breakfast/lunch/apéritif bar in the street and quite some other bars and restaurants close by.

What could be improved: Be aware that parking spaces are not very big, so with a big car it's not the easiest. Not a downside, just a remark

  • Exceptional – Volkmar from Spain – 5 September 2025 (10/10)

Nice and modern apartment with everything you need.

What could be improved: The next metro station is about 15min from apartment.
Close to the apartment there are not many places to lunch or dinner.

  • Exceptional – Jasic from Serbia – 7 August 2025 (10/10)

The apartment is in a quiet neighbourhood, but also not far from the city center. It's very clean and equipped with all the necessary suppliances a family needs. A great thing is a safe parking slot n the yard.
A host is very kind and helpful, ready to help at short notice. All recommendations for this suite.

  • Exceptional – Simon from United Kingdom – 2 August 2025 (10/10)

Spacious. Clean. Comfortable. Good quality furnishings.
    Safe and secure.
Very smooth check in and out process. Staff very helpful and highly responsive.
