Villa Gioia Overview
First Impressions
Villa Gioia sits quietly on Via Alfredo Comandini, and honestly, you might walk past it if you’re not looking carefully. This apartment-style accommodation doesn’t scream for attention like some of the flashier places in central Milan, but that’s actually part of its charm. The building has that understated Italian elegance — clean lines, simple signage, and the kind of entrance that makes you feel like you’re staying somewhere locals would recommend.
Location & Getting Around
The Bicocca-Zara area isn’t touristy, which I mean as a compliment. You’re in a proper Milanese neighborhood where people actually live and work, about 20 minutes from the Duomo by metro. The Zara station is walkable, and from there you can reach pretty much anywhere in the city without too much fuss. What I really appreciated was having actual grocery stores and cafes nearby — not the overpriced tourist traps you’ll find in Brera.
The Space
Each unit feels more like a small apartment than a hotel room, which explains why it works well for longer stays. The kitchen setup is basic but functional — think stovetop, fridge, and enough dishes to make breakfast or heat up takeaway from the Vietnamese place around the corner. The furnishing is modern without being sterile, and there’s actually enough storage space for your stuff, something you don’t always get in Milan accommodations.
Practical Considerations
As a three-star property, Villa Gioia doesn’t pretend to be something it’s not. The service is helpful but minimal — you won’t find a concierge or daily housekeeping, but the staff responds quickly when you need something. Parking can be arranged, which is honestly a bigger deal than it sounds if you’re planning to explore Lombardy by car. The Wi-Fi works well enough for video calls, and the air conditioning actually keeps things cool during Milan’s sticky summers.
Why Guests Love It
Look, Villa Gioia isn’t going to wow you with marble bathrooms or rooftop pools, but it delivers exactly what it promises. The value proposition makes sense — you’re getting space, independence, and a genuine Milan neighborhood experience without paying centro storico prices. It’s the kind of place that works whether you’re here for business meetings in the Bicocca district or just want a quieter base for exploring the city. The 7.2 rating feels about right — solid, reliable, and refreshingly straightforward in a city where accommodations can be surprisingly hit-or-miss.

Reviews of Villa Gioia
Exceptional – Liudmyla from Ukraine – 2 November 2025 (10/10)
Warm, welcoming staff set the tone from the start. There’s handy courtyard parking for a small extra fee. The metro is an easy walk, so getting around the city is simple. We chose this place for the price and expected less, but it turned out to be genuinely solid — comfortable, and good value. Would gladly stay again.

It is a good place outside of the city center but close to the metro station (we dhad no chance to use due to strike day 🙂 ). The district is quiet, but on glance lack of gorcery stores and cafes. The nearest careffour expres just in 2 kilometres. Anyway, the hotel is clean and quiet. We lived in a room with a balcony, so it was great to sit there in the night.
Also the room is equiped by electrical window blinders and that's very useful.
What could be improved: Althrough the room have a fridge we didn't find any glasses to drink some refreshables. The shower head holder was broken and that brought some inconvenience.Good price for the stay – Rachael from United States – 16 May 2024 (8/10)
